whiterose Posted March 5, 2015 #1 Share Posted March 5, 2015 Following your excellent advice, we're flying in the day before our April 25 transatlantic on the Caribbean Princess. All the "Princess" hotels are booked so we have to find out own hotel. We arrive the evening of the 24th. What do you recommend just for a place to sleep that has a shuttle from the airport and also to the ship? If we can keep the cost down that would be a plus. cruiseaholic31 Posted March 5, 2015 #2 Share Posted March 5, 2015 Hello there ~ We are staying at the Sleep Inn in Dania Beach. It's pretty reasonably priced and has shuttle service. Not the fanciest place and it has been a few years since we stayed there, but we are trying it again in April. Enjoy your cruise!

Post this question on the Florida departures board (it may be moved there by the moderators): http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=495. Tell them your budget and the locals and regulars on that board will have suggestions. Just an FYI - the airport, the port and the hotels around 17th Street are all closely located and a short (inexpensive) taxi ride away. You might not want to limit yourself to only those that have shuttles from the airport and to the ship.
Potstech Posted March 5, 2015 #4 Share Posted March 5, 2015 Many also charge for shuttle to the ships on a per person rate. Taxi maybe quicker and cheaper depending on the hotel location.

ExDean Posted March 5, 2015 #6 Share Posted March 5, 2015 Ditto on the Springhill Suites. Also, The Fairfield Inn by Marriott in Dania Beach. Free shuttle from FLL and also to the port at no charge (a tip is appreciated). We've stayed there four times and it works great.

Colo Cruiser Posted March 5, 2015 #8 Share Posted March 5, 2015 Because its so close to your sailing in the hotel world you may find most close to the port hotels are full. My choices would be: Hyatt Place on 10th near 17th St Renaissance on 17th St Cambria Suites Dania beach Hilton FLL airport

-Lew- Posted March 5, 2015 #11 Share Posted March 5, 2015 We are staying at the Sleep Inn in Dania Beach. It's pretty reasonably priced and has shuttle service. Not the fanciest place and it has been a few years since we stayed there, but we are trying it again in April. We stayed there three years in a row beginning before they began charging for their shuttle to the cruise port. Our experience with their shuttle has not been good as they have always run way behind schedule and we spent a lot of time cooling our heels in the lobby. We have since been staying at Hyatt Place Fort Lauderdale 17th Street Convention Center on recommendation by Keith and others and have been happy with the hotel. It's very close to shopping and restaurants...and their shuttle service works well, although not free. I'd also recommend taking a taxi to the port. The cost will be about the same as a shuttle; however, you can go directly to your ship when it's convenient for you and not be cramped with other passengers. It's a good idea to schedule a taxi the day before, especially when there will be a lot of ships in port. Lew
