RobinKY Posted March 5, 2015 #1 Share Posted March 5, 2015 We did a CCL cruise last December and booked via website. We have been poking around the last few days and I get a call from a CCL "personal vacation planner" wanting me to call her back. I guess they can tell when we have been on their website. Has anyone been able to get any deals by going thru this sales person?
love my grandkids Posted March 5, 2015 #2 Share Posted March 5, 2015 No deals but helpful having a relationship with someone at carnival who can help us work thru any problems.
DaisyGirl55 Posted March 5, 2015 #3 Share Posted March 5, 2015 The part that aggravates me is that I have a PVP who I use and who does a great job. Yet when I go to the website and look around, check the price on my booking to see if it went down, look at shore excursions....I always get a call from a very enthusiastic person from Carnival who would do well to switch to decaf, if you know what I mean. I always log in, and do not just go in. It would be nice if my log-in was tied somehow to my PVP. I would much rather get a call from her, than from some random salesperson who keeps pushing me even when I tell them I have a very dedicated PVP who takes good care of me. CheckersMidwest Posted March 5, 2015 #4 Share Posted March 5, 2015 Our PVP is great. I log in every day - looking for Faster to the Fun availability and price drops - and he doesn't call us. He'll check in occasinally, ask if there's something specific we're looking for and will call me if there is a sale. You can make payments through them and they can help you with things. They're usually knowledgeable as opposed to some of the people who answer the phone at Carnival and give you the run around.

If you happen to get a good one and not one who books your cruise then disappears. Mind you there of plenty of good ones, you just have to find the right one. I mentioned this to my PVP and how I wish the others could see I was already with a PVP and not waste their time calling me and she said she could indicate that on what is generated when we visit site. That was about 4 months ago and I haven't received any call since. I have a great PVP!

Bobby_Mac Posted March 5, 2015 #8 Share Posted March 5, 2015 Our PVP is great. She never bugs us. I'm on the site looking at cruises everyday, whether I have a cruise scheduled or not.
BK512 Posted March 5, 2015 #9 Share Posted March 5, 2015 When we booked our recent cruise, I booked online, but didn't have a PVP. I put a 24 hour hold on a cruise, wanting to talk to DH about the details before I booked. I had booked a casino rate, which was offered to me for reasons beyond my comprehension, as I might have gambled $50 in the casino on my previous cruise. I had picked my cabin--I wanted aft balcony, up high but not highest deck, etc.... Before the 24 hour hold was over, a PVP called me, but I was out and about, and asked her to call me in an hour when I was home. She not only returned the call, but saved me money (about $200 over all), got me the exact same cabin I had previously booked, and got me some OBC to boot! She then called about 3 days prior to departure to wish us bon voyage, and called about a week after our return to see how everything went. As a former travel agent, I appreciate the service. love my grandkids Posted March 5, 2015 #10 Share Posted March 5, 2015 Our pvp knows not to call when we go into website and when i need her i will call or email her. Dont need our hands held or a bon voyage call so saves her time as well.

Dont need our hands held or a bon voyage call so saves her time as well. That is what I told my PVP. I would call her when I am ready to book. Told her that about 3 times during different calls. Finally she understood that if she kept bothering me when I was not ready, I would have someone else handle my booking. She stopped calling & when I was ready to book, I called her with all the cruise info she needed. I reminded her about what I said that I would indeed call & book with her when ready. She said that I kept my word with her and knows I will call her when I am ready to book.

elainmir Posted March 6, 2015 #14 Share Posted March 6, 2015 I wouldn't mind finding a good PVP...my problem is I never seem to get one who is thinking of ME...I've been told some seriously bad information by PVP's who didn't know what they were talking about and I've had to try to clean up their mess. I wasn't always successful because Carnival doesn't record phone calls ( that would be to easy to prove what the PVP erroneously told you) . I know one day I'll get a PVP who is good , came close awhile back but unfortunately she was from a different department and filling in...until then...just keep swimming, swimming ;)

Has anyone been able to get any deals by going thru this sales person? Yes, my PVP mentioned she'd seen me looking at cruises on the website (I had created an account in order to see the VIFP deals). No deals other than the website. Went through a third party and got an extra $50 OBC. Worth it to me, but some people like the PVP better. (Sometimes you may not get a better deal in which case I say go with the PVP). Do what works best for *you*!
reno3 Posted March 6, 2015 #16 Share Posted March 6, 2015 I guess I logged in not long ago to look at New Year's cruises and the calls started.....PVP was calling me up to 3 times a day and emailing me. When I would get home from work my DH would say "your boyfriend called again". I finally emailed him and asked him to stop calling....no calls since. I have used a local TA for all of my cruises and would not change to a PVP. I like being able to call and email her with price drops etc.

When I recently called with questions about room change options she told me to call back when I've made up my mind??? WHAT!!!! I had questions which was why I called. I called 1-800 carnival and got the help from them and when they asked if I wanted to do this with my PVP I let them know why I wasn't. So anyway I went into my local AAA to get the carnival book of ships and decided to switch to them. I wonder if that was good move though as they are not open 24/7. Do you have any trouble getting carnival 800 pppl to help you if you TA is unavailable?
