Mira28,

Thank you for your positive happy posts.

Yes the ship has turned north but you still have three full days at sea to go.

Enjoy the Waterfront and the rest of your sailing.

Weather forecast for your arrival on Sunday is 47* and partly cloudy. Not bad considering what we've had and the weather you sailed out in.

I wish you calm seas and fair winds.

Hope your luck in the casino has been better ;)

Safe sailing!

As far as reservations for shows. No, I really do not know the answer about the reason for no reservations. It may be that for this sailing only, that is the case. Both Burn the Floor and Rock of Ages were about 2/3 to 3/4 full. So, it's possible the ship is not at capacity. Or the shows are just not filling up any more. I have no way to know.

I would not attempt to call from the ship. The cost, as listed in my cabin, is $4.99 per minute! Even my exorbitant cell phone plan is less than that!

Thank you.

Thanks Meatball NYC and everyone!

A beautiful morning here. Did not quite get up early enough to see the sunrise. Tomorrow though for sure!

Had another great night, saw the fireworks at the 80's party. (I'm more of a sixties person, but it was a lot of fun!) My intent was to go to the disco afterwards, but I ran out of energy by 11:30. Considering that at home, I am often in bed by 9, this is a pretty exciting ride for me...

I'm looking forward to spending a lot of time outside today, as it is still warm by my standards, (low 60's this morning). It's very windy and for the first time I can feel the ship moving and swaying a little. I like that!

I reserved the Second City show for tonight. It is the only one needing reservations, because of where it's held, I imagine. I plan to get all I can out of my last two nights here. I have avoided thinking about returning to port in NY, but I plan to put down that deposit on a future cruise. $250, but you get $100 as a credit. Seems like a great deal.

Thanks for the positive energy and let's hope spring will be here soon.

My best to all.

Last Day of my cruise! Alas.

Will surely be booking another before too long.

The sea was a bit rough yesterday morning, but the day turned out to be quite pleasant with the sun coming out from behind the clouds. The pool (and hot tubs especially) were busy and everyone seemed determined to get the most out of our time on the ship. I have noticed many groups of young people, perhaps college students or a bit older, and they are fun-loving, but exceedingly well-behaved. As far as I know, anyway!

There are so many wonderful things about this ship. Peaceful areas to sit and read, or people watch like the comfortable chairs and couches near Maltings and Shakers on deck 8, or the Atrium café, deck 6. (Great cappuccino there too!)

I love walking around the ship on deck 8, which I did last evening and again this morning. In the evening it has a festive air, as people are out having drinks, laughs and conversation. In the morning it is simply the best place to feel the power of the ocean.

I will be happy to go home and see my little ones, but sad of course, to have the cruise end. Although I know I may be in the minority, I just loved the Splendor last year. (Well, they say you always remember your first.

Ship that is!)

Still, I feel the Breakaway is special, and has a great deal to offer just about anyone. From the comfortable, cozy cabins, to the welcoming crew and the food which I definitely enjoyed, to the fine entertainment, I think it has been one of the best vacations I've had while a solo traveler. (And I've traveled quite a bit, even though relatively new to cruising.)

If you are planning to sail on the Breakaway, I wish you well and hope you enjoy every moment, as I have! Take in all the little good things, as they are what you will always remember.

My best to all.

Mira,

Thanks for the post and glad you are having such a great cruise on Breakaway.

Webcam showing you are going through some not so great seas right now, so hope you are enjoying some indoor activities.

Enjoy your last day :)

Weather here stinks. Rain rain rain.

The week of the cruise always seems to go so fast. We will be back on BA early in November and kind of nervous as we've never sailed that time of year before.

Have a safe journey home!

Rough seas, yes a bit. So far no seasickness, thank goodness.

There are many activities going on, and really, it would be hard not to find something fun to do. I've been out on the open decks, and it's really pretty thrilling!

I would guess that November weather will be similar to March, with fewer hours of daylight of course.

Rain seems a big improvement over snow and frigid temperatures!

It's still about 60 or so outside as we sail along to NYC...

See you on the next cruise. Soon I hope.

Stay well everyone and enjoy all.

We're on our single digital dance now, starting to do serious packing, although 7 nights are easy for us, so these updates are very, very informative & useful for our "strategic planning" purposes. Tracking ship via marinetraffic site & shipcam, we see some "whites" but mostly wavelets & BA south of Virginia Beach & Potomac Bay, so making good progress & should be "home" early/right on schedule. How rough is the sea according to Ship's NAV channel display & wind/ship speed? Those #'s are always fun to watch ...

The main & children pools are heated, correct and they must've been crowded yesterday, maybe not so much today - and, with overcast skies - probably packing into the buffet & MDR's. Oh, how's last day sales for shopping & those "specials" gone for bargain hunters ... photo studio is always a "zoo" for last day checkout purchases (any 10 pics for $139 or something like that being offered ??)

Yes, no snow in NYC tomorrow to welcome BA & everyone "home" - cloudy, about 40 degree & maybe some leftover showers, rain will be gone by tonight. NYC's Half Marathon is tomorrow so expect some road closure & traffic diverted, otherwise, all is good. Go enjoy & make the best of the final 18 hours at your "Home away from Home." :D

Docked in NYC, and having my last breakfast on the ship :( This is always the hard part. Leaving!

This week flew by. We'll see how debarkation goes. I'm not rushing to get off, as I plan to stay in the city for the night. My son lives here! Then tomorrow I will take Amtrak home.

So many interesting little things about this ship. It's set up so well. Although huge, everything is laid out well and is easy to find. The touchscreens at every stairwell help a lot. Most of the time, I actually knew where I was going!

My studio stateroom had plenty of storage and a number of outlets for charging Nook, phone etc. You can use a store card in the slot to keep the electric on; there are individual light switches for bathroom and the rest of the room. My steward was friendly and efficient. Ice every day! Nice big TV, although few channels. But who cares to do that on the ship? They do show movies almost every evening in the Atrium, and there is a movie channel on TV, ( a free one).

Well everyone, it has been a pleasure sharing my trip on the Breakaway with you. Safe and wonderful travels to all of you and hope to see you one day on a cruise.

Welcome home.

Relax and enjoy your breakfast on the ship. No rush to leave.

Thanks for sharing your Breakaway adventure with us.

You could try offering to do dishes in order to stay onboard, but sadly, it didn't work for us. Oh well.

Have fun in the city. Make sure your son takes you to a nice dinner ;)

Hope to see you one day on a cruise as well.

Safe travels.

Welcome home !!

Been checking shipcam & looked like disembarkation itself should've been smooth, but getting a taxi or picked up by car service might be a bit of challenge due to the NYC Half Marathon, not much vehicle traffic along 12th Avenue. Those that did roof-top parking would be okay, drive out & away from the area. Have a safe trip home.
