Shaden1982 Posted March 17, 2015 #1 Share Posted March 17, 2015 We will be in Bermuda overnight - we arrive late -7:00 PM on Friday May 8 and depart May 9 at 4:PM. So, even though it's an overnight, I don't think it's a lot of time to explore Bermuda and it's beauty. It will be our first visit. I would like to do some shopping and stop and have a Rum Swizzle at the Swizzle Inn. From reading these posts I gather there are 2 locations? Can someone please tell me which is the closest to the dock that Liberty of the Seas docks at and what is the easiest way to get there? I'm hoping that there may be some shops or a restaurant or two open at the dock area on Friday nite when we arrive also. Thanks so much!
njhorseman Posted March 18, 2015 #2 Share Posted March 18, 2015 You're going to be too late for shopping the night you arrive, but restaurants (try the Frog and Onion) at the Dockyard will be open. The Swizzle Inn isn't in the Dockyard, but it's second (new) location can be reached via the number 7 bus, so you could go there for lunch the next day...just be mindful of the time as your ship leaves early. It's near the South Shore beaches, so you could combine a trip to the Swizzle Inn with a morning beach visit. Or you could shop in the Dockyard stores in the morning and then hit the Swizzle Inn for lunch.
Shaden1982 Posted March 18, 2015 Author #3 Share Posted March 18, 2015 Thank you so much. Is the bus close to the dockyard? Does it run all day on a Saturday? How long will it take to get to the South Shore?
njhorseman Posted March 18, 2015 #4 Share Posted March 18, 2015 (edited) The bus stop is just a short walk from where your ship docks. The #7 runs about every half hour. I would estimate the ride to the Swizzle Inn at about 40 minutes. Here's a link to the Bermuda bus schedules. The one you want is "Route 7 Hamilton - Dockyard". The buses can get crowded with people going between the beaches and Dockyard. http://www.gov.bm/portal/server.pt/gateway/PTARGS_0_2_18606_252_993_43/http%3B/ptpublisher.gov.bm%3B7087/publishedcontent/publish/ministry_of_tourism_and_transport/public_transportation_board/bus_schedules/bus_schedule_2014.pdf Edited March 18, 2015 by njhorseman
Shaden1982 Posted March 18, 2015 Author #5 Share Posted March 18, 2015 Thanks again! :) Do you know if taxis are plentiful if the busses are too crowded? Or if there is any type of shuttle to take?
njhorseman Posted March 18, 2015 #6 Share Posted March 18, 2015 Thanks again! :) Do you know if taxis are plentiful if the busses are too crowded? Or if there is any type of shuttle to take? Taxis are generally plentiful at the Dockyard, but it's unlikely there will be taxis waiting for fares at the Swizzle Inn unless you get lucky to catch one that has just dropped off a passenger, so they would probably have to call a taxi for you. There are no shuttles to and from the Swizzle Inn...only to and from Horseshoe Bay beach.

I'm not really sure what the waters will be like early May but maybe we could take the shuttle there if it is close enough to a shopping/town area? Thanks!! :)
