Parking on gc??

We are considering renting car to go to Turtle Farm and maybe hit Smiths Cove or other suggested beaches (Calico or Sea Grape)

I was wondering if parking is a pain? or driving?

I know the buses are pretty easy but I kind of like the idea of coming and going when we want and going to more remote spots.

Has anyone rented a car in GC and thought it was a bad or good idea??

There's lots of parking at the turtle farm, and some at Smith Cove. Public Beach has lots of parking, and I'd suggest parking there for Sea Grape.

However, none of these spots is "remote" or even off the beaten path. They're all what I'd call typical, easy to get to by bus or taxi, usual stops for cruise ship visitors. Smith Cove is about the most out of the way, and it's walkable if you need to, maybe 20 minutes?

Depending on who you rent from, it is going to be much more of a pain to rent a car to go to those spots than to just take the bus, as most of the car rental places are near the airport and thus not anywhere near the port (have to taxi there if they don't have a shuttle). You're going to waste a lot of time getting and returning a car that, IMO, you don't really need.

A car rental is a must for Rum Point, East End, Pedro St James, the botanical gardens...remote stuff outside of town. It's not needed just to go to the turtle farm and the beaches by the port.

We rented to go to Rum Point. They picked us up in town and took us to the airport to pick up car. Easy drive, lots of parking. Loved Rum point. We were shuttled back to the cruise pier by Avis.

Yes, they drive on the other side of the road.
