krazy4kruisin Posted March 22, 2015 #1 Share Posted March 22, 2015 Do you take a passport when cruising to Alaska? this is our first Alaskan cruise and not sure if we really need to. We are US citizens.
rjrpar Posted March 22, 2015 #2 Share Posted March 22, 2015 Do you take a passport when cruising to Alaska? this is our first Alaskan cruise and not sure if we really need to. We are US citizens. I know you need a passport if you are going into the Yukon (Canada). We usually bring our passports on all cruises, never hurts.
dee2673 Posted March 22, 2015 #3 Share Posted March 22, 2015 We are going to Alaska too and the last stop is Victoria. So, we will be bringing our passports.
RuthC Posted March 22, 2015 #4 Share Posted March 22, 2015 I have a passport, so I always take it with me when I travel away from home. It's the easiest form of ID to use at airports, and boarding the ship. But I don't necessarily take it with me when I go ashore in ports. Unless it's required to have it with me in a given country, the passport is either back in my cabin safe, or being held at the Front Desk. If I didn't have a passport, and didn't otherwise need one for the cruise, I would be considering taking a calculated risk in not applying for one. CruiserFromWV Posted March 22, 2015 #5 Share Posted March 22, 2015 We were told that a passport was a "must" for our Alaskan cruise. We are US citizens, cruising from Vancouver and coming home through Fairbanks. I just made a note on the calendar to get them from the bank deposit box. pizzadog Posted March 22, 2015 #7 Share Posted March 22, 2015 I'd be surprised if you were allowed on the ship without a passport since you will be travelling through Canadian waters. Anyone know for sure?
Krazy Kruizers Posted March 22, 2015 #8 Share Posted March 22, 2015 We always take our passports with us. First -- we have to fly -- and you never know when there could be an emergency. One of your stops has to be either Victoria or Vancouver. Should you have an emergency of any type -- you need those passports to fly home. Lulubelle45 Posted March 22, 2015 #9 Share Posted March 22, 2015 As a Canadian traveling vancouver round trip, we are required to have a passport even if we were to remain on ship at all ports.
