bjtomko Posted March 28, 2015 #1 Share Posted March 28, 2015 Completely subjective, I know, but how do you tip on an excursion? Certain percentage related to cost of excursion, flat dollar amount?
Rare Azulann Posted March 28, 2015 #2 Share Posted March 28, 2015 I tip based on the length of the tour and the guide's expertise. I also give a tip to the driver of the bus. I have tipped a guide anywhere from $10 to $35 USD. I have tipped the drivers $2 - $5 in the past.
az_tchr Posted March 28, 2015 #3 Share Posted March 28, 2015 Nothing different that any other tour you would take. A tip is payment for excellent service. You would give a waiter a few more dollars for doing something special. Should be no different if you have a really great tour guide. On the flip side - poor service should not be rewarded, but instead a comment made to either X or the tour company. A company can only improve if they are aware of a problem. cb at sea Posted March 28, 2015 #4 Share Posted March 28, 2015 We tip if we feel the experience is more than we paid for. Some are simply transportation...we don't tip for that. If a guide is fun and really shows us a good time, we tip around $10-20, depending how long the excursion is.
