shrekaus Posted March 29, 2015 #1 Share Posted March 29, 2015 We recently went on our first cruise on Sea Princess - Brisbane to NZ. Whilst onboard we found out that I could have had a $250 OBC as ex-army. (btw we got OBC of $200 with our booking, but the other one would have halved our bill :) ). We went to the pursers desk and was told yes it applied to Australian ex-service as well as US, in fact any nationality. You just have to be ex-service, there is no requirement to have served in a war zone. To get the OBC you have to fax your discharge to Head Office at least 3 weeks prior to boarding and they will let you have confirmation. You cannot claim onboard, wish our TA had told us or asked the question. Ok now my question is does anyone know if any other cruise line offer a similar OBC? Kiwi Kruzer Posted March 29, 2015 #2 Share Posted March 29, 2015 Heres a thread from last year with more info. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2095224&highlight=military+obc
Bizziecruzer Posted March 29, 2015 #3 Share Posted March 29, 2015 Carnival Cruise Company is the only one that offers this - so Princess, P&O and Carnival - amount of OBC varies depending on cruise length. You have to apply each time you book a cruise, even though in the USA it stays on your cruise history, but not Australia. Enjoy.

They do offer Military OBC, but only to UK citizens. See, https://ask.pocruises.com/help/PO/before-you-sail/military

By The Bay Posted March 30, 2015 #8 Share Posted March 30, 2015 Good ol British discrimination against the Aussies still reigns eh? The Americans see us as Allies, what do the British see us as  Have we not fought alongside British forces in many conflicts since the Sudan war in 1885. Still we are not worthy of recognition by P&O UK. Shame P&O UK.

Thank you, and all others that responded, I did follow the link, it seems that RCI don't give a military OBC, pity as they are cruising out of Brisbane later this year, though having watched "Cruising" on TV tonight I don't think it is our type of cruising, got hooked on Princess :)
