Feliseop Posted March 29, 2015 #1 Share Posted March 29, 2015 (edited) I will be staying in Auckland for 5 nights prior to a cruise on the Solstice. Any recommendations? Edited March 29, 2015 by Feliseop
CruiserBruce Posted March 29, 2015 #2 Share Posted March 29, 2015 A little reading down the board would reveal there is a Hilton right on the dock where the cruise ships come in. But, given that many days, I would think about a drive out of town for a couple of nights. Say to Rotorua.
coastcruizer Posted March 30, 2015 #3 Share Posted March 30, 2015 We stayed at The Pullman prior to our Solstice sail - it was great huge rooms great views & restaurant was good. We only had 1 night prior & did an amazing private tour with Frank from iChauffeur NZ.
blairknill Posted April 3, 2015 #4 Share Posted April 3, 2015 (edited) I concur with Cruiserbruce, rent a car head to Rotorua for two nights and spend three nights in Auckland. Auckland is a great city but I think you will enjoy the thermal wonderland of Rotorua. In regard to accommodation the sky casino grand hotel is a nice property centrally located in Auckland try wotif.co.nz for last minute pricing deals. For Rotorua anything down by the lake is good I think their is a Novotel their from memory Edited April 3, 2015 by blairknill
Feliseop Posted April 3, 2015 Author #5 Share Posted April 3, 2015 (edited) Thank you for your suggestions. I was looking at the Waldorf Stadium Apartment hotel. It's at 40 Beach Street. It seems like a good location. Anybody know about this property? Edited April 3, 2015 by Feliseop
blairknill Posted April 3, 2015 #6 Share Posted April 3, 2015 Thank you for your suggestions. I was looking at the Waldorf Stadium Apartment hotel. It's at 40 Beach Street. It seems like a good location. Anybody know about this property? It's a 10 minute walk east of the city/ports and about a 5 minute walk from the britomart centre good hotel and safe area check trip advisor for updated reviews. My customers stay here as it is a serviced apartment type hotel no complaint from them
OhioLair Posted April 7, 2015 #7 Share Posted April 7, 2015 (edited) We booked thru Air BnB and found a charming place in Ponsonby close to public transit. We are looking forward to being in the community and experiencing it from a pseudo locals point of view. Edited April 7, 2015 by OhioLair
nijh Posted April 16, 2015 #8 Share Posted April 16, 2015 Try the Waterfront serviced apartments. They're on the dock where you board Solstice (opposite the Hilton) and are fantastic.
Rare OzKiwiJJ Posted April 16, 2015 #9 Share Posted April 16, 2015 Try the Waterfront serviced apartments. They're on the dock where you board Solstice (opposite the Hilton) and are fantastic. I'll second that. We stayed there some years ago and unexpectedly had ringside seats for the start of the next leg of the round the world yacht race. They've changed name, or management company, since I stayed there I think. I was trying to find them a while back and couldn't. Thanks, nijh.
