Placing a 24 hour hold

Can I place a courtesy hold online and then call later today to book it? I still like talking to an actual person to book it, but the cabins I want are available so I want to snag them and just think about it a little more.

That's what I did last weekend. I was able to find the last Spa cabin available to accommodate our family of 3 but I still had to convince DH.

I called Carnival the following the day to pay the deposit. :D

I don't believe you can place more than one cabin on hold at a time. However, if your DH or SO have a VIFP account, you can also place one cabin on hold with their log in. I have managed to retrieve and hold a specific cabin for several days this way.

Has anybody had problems with placing the holds. I did one, I clicked the email to finalize and book it. Ran into a snag, it didn't take my husbands name or let me put it in. I had to call carnival. Not only that, it won't let me add the insurance, it tells me the VIFP number does not match, but it does since I verified that when I had them put hubbies name in, so I have to call for that. If I try to do anything it balks that my price code won't allow to make changes. I'm just going to ride it out and call for the insurance and tips, but that was rather strange. Had no problems on my last 2 bookings. What was even stranger the woman on the phone had to check to see if there was a fee for a name change. I flipped out over that, telling her it's not a name change its a computer correction made 5 minutes ago. She gave me the attitude that computers don't make mistakes. I guess it's just not my week.

I had this same problem when I put a hold on the cabin. I don't know if it was because of early saver or not, but I called and they corrected all my info while I had them on the phone. While it took longer than I had wanted to spend on the phone, it taught me a lesson to either cancel the hold and rebook, or let it run out and start over.

I was just so afraid someone would find out the cabin was available and snag it. It was one of those rare occasions I managed to get the coveted 30 ft long balcony cabin. :D

Mine was a casino price and the prices were going up within a week $50pp on the Fantasy for the week we need. So I did the hold to lock in the price and figure out if I had enough for the deposit, medical expenses this week. So now I know I won't mess with it again. It wasn't me after all. And it wasn't your fare code, something definitely wrong with it. But what aggravated me the most was the woman on the phone saying she was checking to see if there was a name change fee. Seriously, I told it's not a change, its a correction that their website messed up on. If she would have put a charge on, I definitely would have cancelled.
