wntgoislnds Posted April 4, 2015 #1 Share Posted April 4, 2015 We're going on the Nov 6 Southern Caribbean on the Oosterdam. Can we look forward to some dancing and the BB King Blues Lounge? Thank you
headhunterke Posted April 4, 2015 #2 Share Posted April 4, 2015 Normally, there will be a BB King Blues band rocking three times every evening :-)
Saphire Posted April 4, 2015 #3 Share Posted April 4, 2015 Yes! We saw many people up and dancing in the Queen's Lounge. I had thought the band would play more Blues, so was a bit disappointed. They focused more on Motown, but did sound really good. Enjoy!

wntgoislnds Posted April 5, 2015 Author #5 Share Posted April 5, 2015 Thank you headhunterke and Saphire. I hope they have it. I'm a Motown girl so that won't be a problem if they have that too.
lettienets Posted April 6, 2015 #6 Share Posted April 6, 2015 Can you still talk while band is playing or is the band too loud?
summersigh Posted April 6, 2015 #7 Share Posted April 6, 2015 According to the HAL website the Oosterdam does have the BB King group on board and since it doesn''t give an ending date it seem it's a pretty good chance they'll still be there when you sail. :)
CruzinRex Posted April 6, 2015 #8 Share Posted April 6, 2015 (edited) Can you still talk while band is playing or is the band too loud? My answer would be NO unless BBK has finally toned it down. On a 37 day Noordam transAtlantic last Nov. people were sitting in the passageways because music from the lounge was just too loud and spilling over into other venues. Several passengers who had booked cabins on the lower decks said that the music even invaded their rooms. We did the Eurodam Eastern Caribe a couple of weeks ago and BBK did seem to be slightly quieter. *** On that same note, the theater performances are awfully loud as well. On earlier cruises we always arrived early to get a seat near the stage. On the last two mentioned cruises passengers were competing for the seats furthest from the stage. We have commented to HAL regarding the loudness on both of those cruises and although we received a nice email in return I suspect that the loudness will remain, apparently HAL is trying to appeal to a younger crowd that likes ear shattering music. Oh, BTW I am hearing impaired but didn't need my hearing aids for any of the above! Edited April 6, 2015 by CruzinRex

rguy123 Posted April 6, 2015 #11 Share Posted April 6, 2015 Loved the BB King group on Noordam 20~30 March
Rare VMax1700 Posted April 6, 2015 #12 Share Posted April 6, 2015 The volume levels will depend on the individual musicians on each ship. On Zuiderdam in January there were no problems with being too loud. I visited a couple of their afternoon rehearsals and sound checks and the musicians took a lot of trouble to try to get the best levels.
