LuckyAshley Posted April 10, 2015 #1 Share Posted April 10, 2015 Evaluating based on ship alone, which would you most want to cruise on?
laurabegorrah Posted April 10, 2015 #2 Share Posted April 10, 2015 I choose Epic just because it's the only one I've not been on or already have booked....lol
GrabMyWrist Posted April 10, 2015 #3 Share Posted April 10, 2015 None of those mentioned. Have sailed the Getaway, too big IMO. We prefer the Jewel class ships.
Solararc Posted April 10, 2015 #4 Share Posted April 10, 2015 None of those mentioned. Have sailed the Getaway, too big IMO. We prefer the Jewel class ships. 100% agreed, so far our favourite is the Jade *Living large one week at a time*
mtwingcpa Posted April 10, 2015 #5 Share Posted April 10, 2015 I cast another vote for the Jewel Class ships. The ones listed in the poll don't interest me...too big! :-(
buckirj1 Posted April 10, 2015 #6 Share Posted April 10, 2015 IF I were to do it, I'd probably choose the Breakaway because it's currently the easiest for me to get to. I think the size might be a little too big for my tastes, though. It'd ultimately depend on whether or not those ships went places I'd want to go. And so far, they don't. drvalo Posted April 10, 2015 #7 Share Posted April 10, 2015 none of those. Much prefer the Sun (our very favorite) or any of the Jewel class ships. We found "big" was not for us. We loved the entertainment, but that was about all.
waverley7 Posted April 10, 2015 #8 Share Posted April 10, 2015 Drvalo The Sun was our first cruise, we loved it!! We will be on the Dawn next, I'm wondering if it has the awesome Atrium that looks all the way up like the Sun?? Haven't found another ship like the Sun. Do you know?? :) Janice
CruisinMaterial Posted April 10, 2015 #9 Share Posted April 10, 2015 Everything they created or expanded on Epic was taken and shrunken on the Breakaway and Getaway (Bliss and SpiceH2O). I put Epic as my favorite but my real favorite is coming back from banishment in Europe and that’s the Norwegian Spirit! So glad the Oriental Lady is returning back to the USA. Now if only we can get her to Asia!! :D
NUPDCOP Posted April 10, 2015 #10 Share Posted April 10, 2015 Jewel class ships are the best..... Those that want the big ships can have them, I really doubt NCL or any company will ever build smaller ships again but it would be nice vs the mega ships. Mistizoom Posted April 10, 2015 #12 Share Posted April 10, 2015 I chose get away because that's what I booked on! :) But hopefully will do an Epic Med cruise next.
Single Cruiser Posted April 10, 2015 #13 Share Posted April 10, 2015 Well at the moment I'm a Epic (large), Spirit (small) ship fan. I liked the waterfront on Breakaway and Getaway but Bliss and Spice weren't as good. However when I complete the set in October I'm thinking (as a real ale drinker) a certain venue might sway me to Escape.. :D
rpb718 Posted April 10, 2015 #14 Share Posted April 10, 2015 After 5 cruises and another one booked, here's another vote for the smaller ships. Heck, I haven't even cruised a Jewel class ship yet.

Levanah Posted April 10, 2015 #17 Share Posted April 10, 2015 Another vote for the small ships. The little Spirit was our first. The Sun is our favorite.
MagnoliaBlossom Posted April 10, 2015 #18 Share Posted April 10, 2015 None of those. Give me the smaller ships any day. I just hope they can keep refurbishing for another 30 years. By then my cruising will be long gone.
Bruce CountyJay Posted April 10, 2015 #19 Share Posted April 10, 2015 Love those Jewel class ships. Also the Sun. Anything that has a Great Outdoors and a large Spinnaker Lounge is for me.
OceanBlue123 Posted April 10, 2015 #20 Share Posted April 10, 2015 Add yet one more vote for the smaller ships. A cruise should be fun and relaxing, not crowded and stressful.
drvalo Posted April 10, 2015 #21 Share Posted April 10, 2015 (edited) Drvalo The Sun was our first cruise, we loved it!! We will be on the Dawn next, I'm wondering if it has the awesome Atrium that looks all the way up like the Sun?? Haven't found another ship like the Sun. Do you know?? :) Janice The Dawn is not much like the Sun. We were somwhat disappointed with it when we cruised on it. It had been right after the dry dock when the did away with the Spinnaker observation lounge and turned it into suites. They moved the Spinnaker to deck 8, but it is no longer an observation lounge. The other thing we did not like as compared to the Sun was there was no Great Outdoors aft. However, it was also one of our best cruises in terms of fun activities and crew. We were on her for an 11-day cruise. As I remember there was a nice atrium where they often had various shows. If it is still the same, they also had the very best show band I have heard on a cruise ship. They played for the various production shows but also had a few of their own shows in the atrium. They were really great. I used to say any cruise is what you make of it, and generally, I think that is true...that was until we cruised on the Epic. :( That said, I am sure you will have a lovely cruise on the Dawn, especially if you like show band music. :) It is small enough that you get to know people (crew and other PAX). We met the maitre'D from the more casual MDR at lunch during the second day of our cruise. We had had some bad service the night before. He was so apologetic and asked us to please return. He gave us a bottle of wine and had reserved the table by the window for us...that night and every night after (although no wine). We had a great time!!!! NLH Arizona Posted April 11, 2015 #25 Share Posted April 11, 2015 I don't think I would cruise on any of the four; they are way too big for me. Give me the Pearl or Jewel or any of the other smaller ships.
