gnatz007 Posted April 16, 2015 Author #51 Share Posted April 16, 2015 Great photos. :) Thank you! I hope in some small way, I am paying back a pittance to the Cruise Critic family that so helped us on our various cruises.

rdsqrl Posted April 16, 2015 #65 Share Posted April 16, 2015 Ditto! Very far from being bored. Jealous and antsy to be back on a ship soon, but definitely not bored! Your photos are really good -- I especially love the random little details, like the up-close photo of the display case in the Wheelhouse. More, please!! undercat Posted April 16, 2015 #66 Share Posted April 16, 2015 Thank you for your review and photos! I admit, since we're taking our first trip on the Star next month I'm trying not to look at all of the beautiful ship photos so that I can savor the thrill of discovery in person.....but it's so hard not to look because I'm so excited! (like a kid on Christmas Eve :D Maybe just a peek ;) ) Food photos, though, well......bring 'em on! You and your family look like you had a wonderful time! Keep the review going! shredie Posted April 16, 2015 #67 Share Posted April 16, 2015 You take me back! That couch area outside the sports bar is a quiet place to read. I know people say the smoke smell is bad, but I don't really notice it if the bar doors are closed. Thanks for the virtual cruise! :)
IECalCruiser Posted April 16, 2015 #68 Share Posted April 16, 2015 (edited) ummmmm Cronut! We have found some significant variation in the quality of the cronuts. Those on the Crown were more just like a square donut rather than the flaky delicacy on the Regal, Grand and Sapphire. On the Crown I took two bites and decided to save the calories for something else [emoji33] Edited April 16, 2015 by IECalCruiser
SilverLining4Me Posted April 16, 2015 #69 Share Posted April 16, 2015 (edited) I hope I haven't completely bored everyone... do you want me to keep going? Yes, please continue. Thank you for taking all the time too to do this to share with us. Love seeing photos of the ships and people's cruises. Gives me a "mini cruise break" while stuck here at home. :D Need to get our next cruise in the works. Ready to Sail! Posted April 16, 2015 #70 Share Posted April 16, 2015 Enjoyed your review and pics. Have gone under the GG numerous times but never on a cruise ship, and it's on THE list for the near future. How great to have someone take pictures from the bridge. Also enjoyed your comments on the Royal. We are doing the Baltic cruise on her in June, and I'm already missing the promenade deck. So, maybe by this time next year we can do same comparison as you. Will wave next week as we scoot though SLC on our way to Vernal ( to visit family) in our RV. We love Utah! Thanks again for enjoyable review and pictures. LoriPhil Posted April 16, 2015 #72 Share Posted April 16, 2015 With your photos and description of the Star, we're now starting to consider sailing with her to Alaska next year, rather than the refitted Island. Ummmmm -
Mackenzie1 Posted April 16, 2015 #73 Share Posted April 16, 2015 (edited) With your photos and description of the Star, we're now starting to consider sailing with her to Alaska next year, rather than the refitted Island. Ummmmm - I know what you mean. I would rather be on a ship that has the same number of passengers that it was originally designed for, rather than a ship that has had 200 additional cabins added since the original designs. With the modifications to the Coral and Island, my new ship choice criteria are now: (1) itinerary first, then (2) any ship except the Regal or Royal (unless it's only a 2 or 3 day cruise), and then (3) any ship that has not had its original design changed to add more cabins. I would also pick the Star over the Caribbean Princess since the CB, a Grand Class ship built after the Star, was designed with the additional Riveria deck, which was not included in the Star's original design. The Star never felt crowded on either of the two cruises we have been on her. There were always places to sit. On the Royal it was the opposite, we always felt squished in. Especially around the pool. You have to get up at the crack of dawn if you want a chair around the pool on the Royal. On the Star, go when you want, it seemed we always found a good chair / or lounger. (maybe we were lucky, and the Star just loves us and made sure we were always taken care of). More pictures to come today ;)
TBetti Posted April 16, 2015 #75 Share Posted April 16, 2015 Great pictures, we will be on her on the 29th. Have been on the sister ships, but I can see they have done a few things different. Thanks for posting.
