One night post cruise FLL

We will have a whole day after the cruise and want to stay close to airport. What can we do cheap and without our own car?

 

We probably cant check in till 4pm, any ideas on what to do after we get off the ship?

There is three of us, DW,DS, and I

Rent a car, put the bags in the trunk, and then go where you want - water taxi, beach, lunch, drinks, shopping, everglades tour, etc.

 

www.sunny.org has lots of tourist info for the FLL area.

Valuetrips has Hyatt Place between the port and airport for great prices. Check there to see if your date is available. You can walk to restaurants and shops or take Suntrolley to the beach from there. You can drop off your luggage at the desk early in the day if your room isn't ready for checkin.

Agree if you can get in Hyatt Pl. go for it. Use valuetrips.com to book at best price. Plus this hotel has airport shuttle and breakfast.

I wouldn't stay out by the airport. Nothing to do all day.

I'd rather stay close to the water. There's nothing near the airport. We've enjoyed stays at the Hilton Marina. Most hotels will hold your luggage if you arrive early and a room is not ready.

Just to clarify, the port area is just a few minutes from the airport...stay on SE 17th St and you will be near the airport AND have things to do. The airport hotels on S.R. 84 are really only about 1.5 miles closer to the airport because you have to travel there by roads and not by air.

Most hotels will store your bags as soon as you arrive off the ship, some will also allow you to use facilities like pool or gym until your room is ready.

 

I would also recommend 17th street hotels rather than those classified as airport hotels. 17th street is still very close to the airport but it is also close to the beach and downtown. You can take the local bus (or trolley depending on days and times) to the beach and to Los Olas Blvd.
