On Board Credit

I was wondering what things on board credit can be used for. Can it be used for gratuities?

It is a cashless society...your OBC is used for EVERYTHING.

If you don't have enough OBC to cover any charges, your credit card is charged OR you can put cash on your account when you board (or later).

If you have leftover OBC...there are 2 types "refundable" and nonrefundable". Refundable can be cashed out at the end of the cruise at the PAX services desk. Nonrefundable...go to the casino, put the nonrefundable onto your casino account (it is separate from your OBC account), play slots for however long you want (watching the balance, unless you want to lose it;)) and cash out at the cashier cage.

The only things you use cash for are to ADD to your OBC account, some of the casino games and extra tips (if desired) to wait staff, bar staff or steward.

Yes, but not if you pre pay gratuities or anything else before the cruise......

Anything charged to your onboard account will be offset by the OBC. ;)

If I have "left over" credit at the end of the cruise will I be able to use this for additional tips for our waiter and steward? On an up-coming cruise we have over $2,000 in credits and it is doubtful we will spend it all.

This is a great scenario to use the casino to cash out any unused obc at the end of the cruise.

Some can be refundable but most is not.

Yes, others have mentioned here that they went to the PAX services desk and increased their gratuities. You may also be able to name the person to whom you want the additional $$ to go to (not sure about that one).

The only problem with that is the amount goes into the tip pool & gets distributed to everyone and not the people you actually might want to give extra to.
