Ryndam - Sailaway - Sunday, April 19th

Just listened to that Coast Guard message....sounds like there might be a problem...and they aren't letting the cruise ships go out...

 

A lot of that was in code....anyone know what's happening....??

There is a capsized vessel in the shipping lane....

Have not heard the news from the CG, might try asking. Just had a 3rd ambulance show up. Cruise director was just making announcements but it was mostly events and activities around the ship and a bit about this being the final sailing out of Tampa so everyone should be out waving. Hard to hear with wind and the firetruck. Hubby was just looking at the weather, there is a beach hazzard warning, loiks like heavy rain and rip current warnings.

Oh my!! That is just awful! I hope everyone is ok.

 

That could delay things. that along with the emergency on board and the weather is making this a crazy final sailing for Ryndam.

They saved the people off the capsized boat but it's still out there....

One ambulance just left. 2nd one moved in to place. Looks like a few people leaving the ship. Nothing has seemed urgent so I hope everyone is ok.

 

They still have a lift basket/boom with workers doing something along the side of the ship. Also the lifeboat has not been returned to its upright and locked position.

Looks like the storm is right off the coast...but it must be moving slowly...not suppose to get there until 9 or 10....hopefully they will be able to cruise out before then.....!!

We do have our car for protection. We will have to pull in our banner though. Made a banner that says "farewell Ryndam we will miss you" and had it hanging on the fence earlier but now have it across the hood of the car since we moved right up next to the ship.

 

One ambulance left without anyone. The other one looks to be getting ready to leave.

All rescue personal are now gone.

 

Work still being done on the ship. Lifeboat still down in the water.

Staff captain just announced still fueling and additional "stores" are enroute. Delay unknown.

Staff Captain just announced the storm and update to departure. They are waiting on provisions and are still fueling. Everyone who was outside on the railings went inside. He said he would keep them updated.

They are talking about 18:00 (6 pm)...and watching the weather...

I'm awaiting word before leaving for Ft Desoto pier. If I heard right, maybe not until 6pm now, which would bring the Ryndam by there about 8pm, which is sunset. I'm hoping for a good pic!

Ugh. That might screw up my plans for dinner. We were going to head over to Fort DeSoto and see her go by but if she is going out that late we won't be able to go over and then to my mom's for dinner.

Lifeboat still in the water and boom still being used to work on the side of the ship.

That medical disembarkation was unfortunate......both for the patient and the ship. If she had been able to get under way at 1600 hours she'd have been clear of the weather. I'm looking at NOAA radar now and the front is still considerably north of the mouth of Tampa Bay

Even without the medical disembark they still have work being done, still fueling and just received supplies.

 

haven't heard anything else about boat capsized in the chanel. Norwegian Sun still here too.
