Just off the Crown

We just returned from my daughter's wedding cruise and let me say, getting married on board is the way to tie the knot.

The Crown, our first ship with the International café and we chose the plaza deck so we just walked out of our cabin and there we were. What a cool place to hang out.

Let me start at the beginning....

We were on an early flight and used the Princess transfer from Lax. There was no problem finding the Princess reps, they were everywhere. They escorted us to the bus but because it was too early to head to the dock they dropped us off at the Sheridan where we pre-registered. They fed us a continental buffet and after a couple of hours we were off to the port. This was a very efficient way to pre-register. We were in a different line because we just needed to pick up our cruise cards. 10 minutes after arriving at the port, we were in our cabin.

Like I said, we decided to try the Plaza deck and it was really a fine location. We were in P328. Sometimes I could hear the mariachis and they were in the Piazza quite often. Next time I would go farther up the hall.

The Piazza was often really crowded and that made it sometimes hard to move from our cabin up the stairs.

The best part of this location is that you are in the middle of everything and up one deck was everything else, dining room, theater etc.

This ship felt crowded at times. One night on deck 6 or 7 , the dining room was letting out as was the theater and they had all the tables set up with the jewelry and gold chains and everyone was being channeled into the same small space.

The ship goes in to drydock in 2 weeks but the entire time they were changing out carpet during the night so in the morning everything was fresh.

There was a small Noro outbreak so everything was being served, which I prefer anyway.

Remember the days of deck parties with food and drinks sold in light up glasses. those days are gone, still fun but less than it used to be.

To wrap up....

The staff was wonderful. They best that we have ever had. The ship was clean. The captain, he was out and about greeting people all the time. I loved the two cruise directors, The house band was fabulous and they did have a lot of live music.

The food.. average, however and this is huge, my one daughter is Vegan and the headwater created amazing 4 course meals for her every night. Thank you Christain!!!!

We had a fabulous time and a beautiful wedding.

This is such a great way to get married, everything was taken care of and it was all so beautiful. The Captain is such a nice , nice guy.

One problem when the married couple got back. Changing her name with Social Security. Since it is a Burmuda wedding licence. Social security is not sure what to do with it lol

Did you have traditional dining? Were you fortunate enough to have dinner in the MDR on Deck 6/mid-ship? I wonder if they take into consideration your cabin location (Plaza) when they assign the MDR.

Glad you had a wonderful time. And congratulations to the newlyweds.

Thanks for posting.

We were late traditional dining in the Michelangelo, deck 6

One thing I for got to mention was that because of a shooting in Puerto Vallarta the zipline tours through the ship were cancelled.

When we were in Cabo one of the vendors said something about all the recent shootings in PV. We could only find out about one and it was actually in the marina district.

PV better watch out or the will be off the itinerary, but I guess they have a year to figure it out.

On most Princess ships they set up there tables to sell their goods in that same area in the evenings. We've experienced the same thing many times and it does get a little frustrating especially when you just want to pass through to get to another lounge for a show. It pays to leave the theater a little early sometimes.
