Longboards does not stay open really late.

Well things can always change, but I just pulled my dailies from my November 2014 cruise on the Sky. Longboard is listed under Anytime Dining open 11:30pm to 5am. I had a fish and chips meal there past midnight after the White Hot Party.

We also grabbed cookies from the Great Outdoors Cafe buffet which is out the backdoor of Longboard. That buffet was set up until about 1:30am. It is more of a sandwich offering, but it was an option.

Late night munchies are also set up in the casino from 11pm to 1am. They were always well picked over by the time I saw them. Seems I saw dessert items, but there were probably some sandwiches too.

Hopefully the Sun will offer similar options.

Is there a 24 hour buffet on the Sun? Any munchies available for insomniacs (other than room service)?

I believe that there is something open somewhere on the ship - the specialty

restaurants have pretty much fixed hours as well as the MDRs. The buffet

is open for breakfast lunch and dinner albeit when breakfast time is finished

the buffet closes briefly to set up for lunch and the same in the late afternoon

for dinner. During those periods The Great Outdoors (Pool Deck 11 Aft) has a

limited menu. The Sports Bar has a late evening till wee hours food schedule.

And then there is the Room Service Pizza with fee.

Because it is a smaller ship the buffets are not sized like the monster ships

but the NCL SUN does a good job of having a variety of menu choices.

I have been on the SUN STAR and the DAWN and the SUN is my ship of choice !

You can always take food from the buffet to your stateroom to eat later but

there really is no way to warm it up (NO microwave oven) so best consider

a cold plate selection. If you bring a roll of plastic wrap the food can be

covered from the elements.

AND the all important Soft Serve Ice Cream machine is in the alcove of

The Great Outdoors and is normally open from about noon to 9pm !

Just an small addition, great list btw, the pizza does have a charge yes, but it can be delivered anywhere on the ship, so as to not wake up your cabin mates.

Unless you are serving yourself at the buffet THERE WILL ALWAYS BE A CHARGE FOR PIZZA !

One must be sufficiently inebriated to order a NCL pizza.

Cheap grocery store pizza has a better consist and more food value.

Did I mention that it tastes better when you are drunk and don't know what you are eating ?

At least at the buffet when you are sliding a greasy slice out onto your plate you can doctor it up with whatever is left at the buffet.

Obviously my opinion of NCL Pizza is that the bottom feeding fish in the ocean are eating better.

Which brings me to the subject if you were in New York City and this Pizza

was being served to the public the mafia would be feeding you to the fish.

My rating for NCL Pizza is 20000 leagues under the sea !

Well I better stop while I am ahead - there are some folks that actually like this stuff ! LOL !

Isn't that the truth! And they seem to be changing particularly fast right now.

Whatever is or isn't open, I am sure I will survive, but in anticipation of a cruise, especially on a new line, it is fun to learn as much as you can.

I often wake up anytime after 3:30 AM and can't get back to sleep. I then explore the ship for a couple of hours so as not to disturb DH. Hot chocolate with something to tide me over until breakfast is always welcome. It helps get me back to sleep.

The sun doesn't have an O'Sheehans, just a little sports bar on lido deck aft

Just got off the Sun four days ago, and the sports bar (get the hot wings) was open I think from 5:30pm-5am. The buffet opened at 5:30am for an "early riser" breakfast, so I believe the only time food wasn't available somewhere was 5-5:30am.
