CruiserBruce Posted April 24, 2015 #3 Share Posted April 24, 2015 On the topic of scenery, it doesn't matter. You aren't locked in the cabin- you will be out and about, all over the ship. And the scenery is 360 degrees, not all on one side. As to your ship questions, we can't answer without knowing the ship. There is a portion of Cruise Critic devoted to Alaska, located here: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=
gwsster Posted April 24, 2015 #4 Share Posted April 24, 2015 Look at the itinerary and see which side of the ship faces the side you want to see. If it is a round trip it won't matter. We have been on both sides of the ship as you have land on both sides of the ship and the scenery is incredible. This is the only cruise that I feel that a balcony is so worth the $$. I like the quiet of sitting on the balcony watching for whale spouts, otter, and other critters. For those that like sitting up on the deck then it doesn't matter, any cabin will do. This is one of the cruises that I could do every year, it never gets old for me.
Atomica Posted April 25, 2015 #5 Share Posted April 25, 2015 It's better to focus on the location and amenities of your stateroom within the actual ship. Port/Starboard make very little difference in terms of scenery in Alaska; generally speaking, there's interesting things to look at all around you.
