ATD on the Conquest

We are also on the Conquest for the first time and I asked on our roll call. I was told the Renoir dining room which is mid ship is the one for ATD.

I wonder why you are nervous about having that option?

We love ATD and will only sail now if it is available.

We love having a table for 2 and if we meet folks we like then we can arrange to eat with them.

We ask for the same table each night if we like our wait staff and they get to know us just as they would in the set time dining room. IF you don't like the wait staff you can change. I think it is just great!!

We just got off the Conquest yesterday and used YTD. It took us a little while to find a great waitstaff but if you ask for Gembong and his group you won't be disappointed! It is the Renoir on deck 3 and we were always able to have a table for 2. We never waited for more than 10 mins. for a table.

How was your overall experience on the Conquest? Haven't seen a recent review lately

I am nervous because I like having a set dining time and a set staff. I like the comfort of it. ( this is also the reason I do not like it because I feel guilty when we don't go to the MDR for dinner ). I also do not want longer wait times and for service to be sacrificed. I am sure it will be fine. If I don't like it, I will switch back to assigned dining on the next cruise.

How was your overall experience on the Conquest? Haven't seen a recent review lately

I sailed the Conquest on April 12. It was my first time on Carnival and I was not happy with my experience. My cabin was flooded and it took two days using a huge fan to dry it out. I didn't like the loudness all over the ship from DJs, announcements, loud drunks, kids etc. Lots of rude people like the woman screaming at me for being in the VIP line at the passenger service desk over and over again. The casino had unplayable Video Poker paytables. I saw no winners in the casino all week. I will never sail this ship again.

I did like Guy's Burgers but they are very greasy and health nuts will not like them. The extra pay steakhouse on the first night was not that good. Later in the week the service and food improved, maybe because we were comped casino guests at that one.

Debarkation was very slow and if you have an early flight, I would be worried. Getting off at ports was also very disorganized. Everyone was put into one large room if you had a tour and other people were blocking the stairs trying to get off.

The CD, Mike, was everywhere on the ship. He worked very hard.

Good luck on your trip. I hope you have a better experience than mine.

Thanks Sue. I'm sorry you had such a bad experience. Hopefully ours will go a lot smoother

Ours was a completely different experience than pusywillow's. We were on the next cruise after her's and we had a great time. I have to agree with the debarkation experience, very slow. I was glad we had changed our flight from the 11 AM flight we originally booked. We never would have made it. We found the casino to be very crowded in the evenings so we just played during the day and watched the Dive In movies most nights. As I said, Gembong and his team were great but it took a couple of meals to find them. Mike, our CD, was everywhere and made the cruise fun without being annoying. Based solely on our experience, we'd sail the Conquest again in a heartbeat.:)

We cruised the Conquest October 2013 and are cruising on her again this year. We did ATD and had no issues. We were able to have the same wait staff each time and we only waited about 10 minutes or so on Elegant night.

We enjoyed the Conquest last time and had a great time. Yes, ATD is in the Renior dining room on 3. Remember that you cannot get from front to back on deck 3. You have to up or down a deck to get across. We had no issues with loudness or drunks. But, we sail in October not around Spring Break time so that could certainly make a difference in the demographic on the ship. We loved the Steakhouse and we really enjoyed Guys burgers. But they are greasy. However, living in an area with the Varsity (also known in Atlanta as the Greasy "V") you just have to have a bit of grease every now and then even when you are eating healthy. :D
