sportscruiser Posted May 4, 2015 #1 Share Posted May 4, 2015 I know that Half Moon Cay can be missed at any time of year for several different reasons. I am curious though if there is a month or two out of the year that it is missed the most. Can you reply with a month(s) that you have missed this port? Thanks for the input! Typhoon1 Posted May 4, 2015 #2 Share Posted May 4, 2015 The miss rate at any private island that tenders any time of the year is around 20%. Season seems to have no effect on the miss rate,
CruiserBruce Posted May 5, 2015 #3 Share Posted May 5, 2015 (edited) We are 8 for 8 getting there, in December, February, March, April. The only time there was any doubt was in December. Looking down the board, you will see many threads on this topic. The November - January months probably have the most misses, but the miss rate is actually falling below 20% due to various things being done to assure getting there, like the island based tenders. This last winter it seemed there were few misses. Edited May 5, 2015 by CruiserBruce
sportscruiser Posted May 5, 2015 Author #4 Share Posted May 5, 2015 Thanks for responding. I have seen several threads about the "miss" rate of 20%, I just hadn't noticed any that mentioned the actual months of when it was missed. I'm planning on going in July and hadn't seen much information on if that month was at a 20% miss rate as well. Thanks again!

There's an 80% chance you will tender to shore.
lvz2cruz Posted June 6, 2015 #6 Share Posted June 6, 2015 We missed in January 2011, made it in January 2012 and again December 2012. Hope you get to go. It is beautiful.
OCruisers Posted June 7, 2015 #7 Share Posted June 7, 2015 When weather conditions are not good, you really would not enjoy being there anyway. Not a fun place to be on a very rainy day! ;) LuLu
twinklen01 Posted September 6, 2015 #8 Share Posted September 6, 2015 if the ship misses that port is it just a sea day or do they go somewhere else?

Pellaz Posted September 16, 2015 #11 Share Posted September 16, 2015 We missed in January 2011, made it in January 2012 and again December 2012.Hope you get to go. It is beautiful. I'm 2-for-3 right now...missed it on Liberty, made it on Victory and Freedom. If we miss it this coming October I'll have God's Own onboard credit; I've rented the Private Oasis. CruisinSherryW Posted September 18, 2015 #12 Share Posted September 18, 2015 We missed it. Liberty January 2015. Was partly cloudy but the water had enough choppiness to it that they would not tender. It was our last port so it became an additional sea day and we cruised very slowly back to Port Canaveral. texag77 Posted October 5, 2015 #13 Share Posted October 5, 2015 We've made it 2 out of 3 times. Made it on Thanksgiving 2013 and March 12, 2015. Missed out due to choppy seas on Thanksgiving 2014. And we'll be going again Thanksgiving 2015 .
Leen729 Posted October 30, 2015 #14 Share Posted October 30, 2015 We are 0 for 2. Missed last October and missed again last week on the Sunshine. Water was too choppy for the tenders. They made the decision at 5:00 p.m. when we were supposed to be leaving Nassau so we stayed in Nassau until 9:00 p.m. and had a sea day the next day. CruisinSherryW Posted November 1, 2015 #16 Share Posted November 1, 2015 So does that mean when boat misses a port, you get your refund with on board credit instead of the credit card you booked with? Yes. They post it to your on-board account. And then you will have to decide to wait for the refund check in the mail or take it out in the casino before the end of the cruise.:)
