Do they ever take away an upgrade?

Duct tape that mouth and let it be a surprise. She will fall over and be thrilled! Then do something romantic and amazing like hand her flowers (waiting in the cabin) or chocolate or a small piece of jewelry. You will be a king and she will cry the best kind of tears there are.

ANOTHER use for Duct Tape!!!!! ;)

Glad you had a wonderful vacation. I am smiling for you.

one bit of information for you. Talk to the Concierge about arranging to sit at the captains table. He/She will get you in touch with the Matri'd of the dinning room. It was a wonderful experience and nice surprise for your wife.
A little too late...they are already back.

Can't wait to hear your story!

Sorry for the delay but work piled up during the vacation. I’m not a very good writer but here’s how it went. Got to Port Liberty about 11:30 and told my wife I forgot to put the luggage tags on, so I grabbed a porter and had him put on tags for the RFS without her knowing. We then went to the suite check-in where she was so busy looking around she didn’t even notice we weren’t in the regular line. After a very short wait we boarded the ship. I told her the lady at check-in gave us keys to a different room and I did not know why. She started to complain and I said lets just go see where we are and if she doesn’t like it we can go down and complain. We started heading towards the very back of the ship when she started complaining that she thought we were near the middle of the ship and how far back are we going. She opened the room and stopped dead in her tracks. She started walking all around the suite and crying about how her mother (who recently passed away if your not following this thread) had something to do with this (she is a big believer in spirits, afterlife etc.) I then pulled out a bottle of wine I had slipped into my laptop bag without her knowledge and had a few glasses of wine on the huge deck. That night at dinner we’re walking up to the table and I see that we’re sitting with 3 old women and another older couple. Turns out that they are from a very small section of Brooklyn where her Mom grew up and the oldest woman (in her 90’s) owned the dance studio where her Mom took dance lessons as a child. Further cementing my wife’s belief that all that was happening was because of her Mom. Our tablemates were some of the nicest people we have ever met and dinner was a pleasure every night. My wife even invited them all back to our cabin for a cocktail (we had plenty of room). There was nothing on this cruise that was a negative. Perfect weather, perfect seas, perfect tablemates, FANTASTIC suite, no crowds and even won a few bucks in the casino. It was truly the vacation of a lifetime. Dreams can come true.

I've been watching this board, hoping that you'd let us know how your cruise was. I'm so glad to read that you were able to keep it a surprise, and how much you both enjoyed, not only your fabulous suite, but the company of your new friends. I too am a believer that those on the other side have a lot of influence on what happens in our day-to-day lives. I think this new angel had a strong hand in ensuring you two had the trip of a lifetime. Thanks for sharing your story and pictures.

In a nutshell, if RCCL has assigned you a cabin number, that is the cabin that you will occupy. They can guarantee you a category, without a cabin number, and they can upgrade you or downgrade you, but once you have the cabin number, I have NEVER heard of RCCL changing. Anyone else out there that has any other opinion????

With that said, my bet would be to surprise her. With flowers, champagne, and anything else that makes your relationship special!

Rick
