Oh, man. So much for subscribing to this thread. I never got notifications for posts this morning, and now they are sold out ... AGAIN!

If you have a smartphone, download the Tapatalk app. You can then choose cruise critic and set your notifications. Believe me you will get notice of every single post on every single thread you are subscribed to

Which can sometimes be more than slightly annoying. But useful if you wanna get these cards. And just check obsessively for yourself. By the time someone updates these threads, they have at least gotten their own first.

Dang! sold out! they still have a $5-- RCI - I could buy one of those but I'm not going on any of their cruises so it could possibly be a waste of money

Make sure you read the terms for those. They are certificates and not nearly as flexible as the Carnival gift cards.

Every single time you see a notification in your inbox you MUST click the link to be brought to this thread - then the notification will reset itself. If you do NOT click the link to be brought back to this thread then you won't get anymore notifications.

It's kind of a pain to click every time - especially when people are saying "Thanks! I scored 5!" (that was me lol) but every time you get an alert you MUST click the link to be brought back here then it WILL reset.

At the bottom of the mail it says "Don't miss anything! Please revisit the above thread to view the newest messages. This will be the ONLY notification until you revisit the forum."

It sure seems like a gift card ? What should i becareful of ? I planned on paying on my cruise with them , iis that ok ? How long do they take to come in the mail ?

Carnival's is a gift card. I believe the previous poster was referring to RC's which is a gift certificate that can only be used on new bookings.

Yes, it's a gift card. Your carbon footprint. Yes. About a week.

I believe that his question was answered. He was inquiring regarding the Royal Caribbean gift certificates, not the Carnival gift cards. There is a significant difference. Read the Terms and Conditions at the link.

So the good sign is that the cards showed up again after the cards were on sale on Saturday. The bad thing is that they sell out fast and often go on sale in the middle of the night. Having the app set up when I get alerts helps a great deal.

What app is that jeffdal ?

I think its tapatalk.

Does anyone know if I buy $500 in carnival cards, apply them to my account and then dont spend $500, do they mail me a check after I disembark/give me cash when I go to the front desk before the cruise ends OR do they apply the leftover money automatically back to my carnival gift card?

I am pretty sure I read somewhere that it applied back to the gift cards (how you purchased the OBC) but I am not sure where I read that. This is my only hesitation in buying multiple carnival gift cards. I am not going on another carnival cruise after this May cruise for a while.

That is what they say, but we got a check in the mail about a week after the cruise.

Did you request a check at the front desk or did you just leave your balance on your account and not go to the front desk, then the check just came?

Just left the balance. I assumed I'd get a gift card in the mail. Was surprised when a check came. My dad got a check too.

I don't want to risk it but I just checked....it is supposed to be a card. I know for a few years, I won't be cruising carnival so it probably isn't worth it to gamble! Thanks !!!

I received my balance on a new gift card that they mailed me. It seems that they are not consistent! The website does say that the balance left will be funded back on a new gift card, so I'm surprised that people are getting checks.

Part of the balance on my on board account was from shareholder credit. They were able to give me back the part I didn't spend in cash at the guest services desk the last night of the cruise.

Don't ask how they determine the percentage left from each funding method!

They are VERY inconstant, I went to GS and asked, she looked at my account and stated it was funded with gift cards, so she said I could wait for a "check" in the mail OR I could go to the candy store and get a new gift card in the unused amount..........

Since it is my $$ I did not like that, I tried to use the kiosk to get the used portion and all it could give me was $15, so off to the casino for the rest. I do not like it that you used your $$ to buy them and they offer one more gift card, looks like they want that amount used. Still this is a great thing these gift cards are they never expire and never charge a penny for service fees like other git cards do.....

I cashed my balance out at the kiosk on the last night around 1 am after all our spending was done. Done it twice this way. No casino. And no issue other than hating that last night on the ship knowing it's all over.

Curious do you mind stating how much you cashed out? Just wondered what the kiosk limit might be?

I tried doing that on 2 cruises and it came up both times saying I had no balance available for withdrawal. Both were on the Dream I think. At least one was for sure, the other may have been the Freedom.

I have heard of that. We will be on the Magic this Summer. Same class as the Sunshine. So if I run into problems, I guess I can go to the casino and cash out. Although a replacement card would be ok since we will have other cruises to pay for. I just don't like waiting for them in the mail.
