bazl0032 Posted May 20, 2015 #1 Share Posted May 20, 2015 Greetings! I will be staying in a hotel 2 blocks from the Vatican on Via Conciliazione for a couple nights before a honeymoon cruise with my wife and was wondering if anybody had recommendations for restaurants in the area we should go to? Your advise is greatly appreciated!
euro cruiser Posted May 20, 2015 #2 Share Posted May 20, 2015 (edited) That's a really poor area for restaurants, unfortunately. The good news is that a short walk gets you to the historic center of Rome where you'll be overwhelmed with great options. You could also jump on one of a number of buses at Piazza Pia if you don't want to walk. Edited May 20, 2015 by euro cruiser
euro cruiser Posted May 20, 2015 #3 Share Posted May 20, 2015 Here are a couple in the neighborhood that get good reviews on Trip Advisor: Romeo: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g187791-d3656680-Reviews-Romeo-Rome_Lazio.html Romeo's web site (with menu): http://www.romeo.roma.it/it/ L'Arcangelo: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g187791-d1743887-Reviews-L_Arcangelo-Rome_Lazio.html
Carolyn R Posted May 21, 2015 #4 Share Posted May 21, 2015 I have a good one for you! It is located in a quiet neighborhood a few blocks north of the Vatican, Bella Napoli. Great food, really reasonable prices, popular with locals. :) http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g187791-d2385422-Reviews-Bella_Napoli-Rome_Lazio.html
slidergirl Posted May 21, 2015 #5 Share Posted May 21, 2015 One that gets mentioned by some of my favorite foodie bloggers is Sorpasso. It would be just a few blocks north of your street, Via Properzio 31-33. Google it, or go to Elizabeth Minchilli's website for some photos and commentary. It was recommended to me by another Rome foodie (Katie Parla), but I didn't make it over there.
bazl0032 Posted May 21, 2015 Author #6 Share Posted May 21, 2015 Thank you all for the information. I will check it all out. The Trip Advisor map is very helpful to find where things are in relation to our hotel, so I will take a Screenshot along with me :-)
kyotoroma Posted July 3, 2015 #7 Share Posted July 3, 2015 Borgo Pio is a street directly across from the Sant'Anna gate where the Swiss Guard stands. There are several really good restaurants down that street (once you get past the touristy ones right at the front of the street). Da Roberto is one of my favorites. It's also a favorite of bishops, cardinals, and popes (before they became popes. ;) http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g187791-d739216-Reviews-Da_Roberto_al_Passetto_di_Borgo-Rome_Lazio.html
