Bottomless Bubbles???

I'm confused about the Bottomless Bubbles package you can purchase on Carnival.

1. Is the cost for kids $4.50 + 15% per day?

2. Is the 15% based upon the $4.50 per day or how many drinks they get per day?

3. Do you wait to purchase the package until you have already left port (due to the taxes?)

4. Every time my boys use their Bottomless Bubbles package, do they have to tip the bartender again (on top of the 15% already charged)?

5. Is it true their card gets scanned every time they use it for the Bottomless Bubbles? Do they have to sign the receipt?

Basically, if we are on the 7 day cruise to Alaska, what is the Bottomless Bubbles going to cost me per child?

Mahalo for any knowledge you may have.

The way taxes are charged is different now. Used to be charged tax on the whole package if purchased at embarkation. Now only charged tax for the drinks purchased before you hit international waters. When the casino opens you know you've past the line.

All bar service includes a 15% gratuity, no additional tipping required.

The cost of the package is $4.50 per day and final cost is based on the length of the cruise.

Cost should be $4.50 X 7 X 1.15 = $36.23 per package purchased.

Some ports are located in states where sales tax is levied on all purchases made within state waters. Some cruise lines delay processing purchases until the ship has sailed and is outside state waters to avoid collecting the tax. Some cruise lines allow you to pre-purchase/pre-pay for beverage and other packages so state sales tax isn't an issue.

It wouldn't hurt to pre-purchase the beverage package. I can't speak for Carnival, on Princess the cruise cards are package enabled during check in if purchased in advance.

Enjoy!
