Is it easy to get to Mykonos town to walk around? Meaning, will we need transportation from the ship?

Depends on what cruise line…….. ours provided a free shuttle that ran all day regularly since we were docked at the new dock a bit from town. Some ships tender.

If you do the Delos tour and you are docked - you will walk a very short walk to the ferry. After the tour instead of bringing us back to the ship the ferry let us off in town. We then walked around, shopped, ate and then took the shuttle (bus) back to the ship.

So it will really depend on your cruise line and where they are while here.

If tendering, you will be right in the town.

Great! So this means we can walk around town without worrying about transportation etc?

Is it easy to get to the beaches in Mykonos without transportation?

Also, what if we wanted to visit Paraportiani Church and the Windmills?

We are on Celebrity. We are tendering

Dont count on it. We have done Celebrity every time we have gone to Mykonos (4 times) and twice it said we would tender…….. we have yet to tender….. and have docked all 4 times !!!!!

They do provide a free shuttle tho….. so no worries.

To go to the really nice beaches you need a taxi. The windmills are just up a small hill from the main part of town. Not sure which church you are referring to so can't comment.

Oh that's perfect if they provide free shuttle! That's funny that they say tendering and then don't. Perhaps that's a good thing though?

So we can go to the windmills just by walking I am assuming?

We were on RCCL last month and originally due to tender but this changed to docking some time before we cruised. We were NOT provided with a free transfer but it was €2 pp each way for the Water Bus which takes you straight to the town dock, where other ships' tenders were docking. Buses were also available.

From the town dock it is a simple walk to the windmills. I do not sat easy walk as all the paths are uneven and would be difficult for wheelchairs etc.

The cruise lines much prefer to use the new dock when they can because the tour buses can come right up to the ship. As passengers, once you accept it is an extra €4 each for the day (small price to pay) it is easy and avoids the need for tender tickets.
