Royal's Elite Laundry

Dudette and I are going a BI cruise in late August aboard the Royal. In the past there has been threads and posts about the Elite laundry service taking 3 days instead of the usual 2 day service. What seems to be the turn around time these days?

Our April experience on the Regal's TA with 800 elite passengers we had a notice at embarkation that due to so many elite it would take up to 72 hours. However it took no more than 48 hours which was much better than on the Royal's TA in 2013 when with 1250 elites it took up to 7 days.

Based on our recent experience on the Regal you shouldn't have any lengthy delays.

Well we are going to be on the Royal and I know the Regal and Royal are sisters but were there enhancements made to Regal's laundry which the Royal didn't get that speed up the turnaround time? I guess what I am trying to say is at this point of time I am interested in the Royal's laundry turnaround time, it will influence our packing.

I have not heard of any differences in the 2 ships laundries.

Did I miss something?

I don't mean to sound like a wise guy, and I do realize that it's an Elite perc (I am Elite also), but may I suggest you pack as if it was a 24-36 hour turn around, and if it isn't, they have perfectly serviceable, easy to use, self-service laundry rooms on each floor in a pinch.

In Aug/Sept 2014 we were on the Royal for a Baltic and a Trans Atlantic. Most times we placed our laundry bag(s) on our bed in the morning before leaving the cabin, and received them back the next day during the evening turndown. A few times it was two days later. It really depends on how many Elite passengers are on the ship. If I remember correctly there were no issues in the Baltic, but I think there were a few delays on the Trans Atlantic (probably additional Elites on board).

We enjoy the Elite laundry service. On a recent Royal Princess voyage, we found that you could leave laundry on your bed for pick up in the AM or the PM. This was our first experience with PM pick up. With PM pick up, the turn around time seemed shorter. We've had 2 incidents with non-return of our laundry - once it was delivered to the wrong cabin (across the hall), another time the steward "forgot" to return it. It took a little time for the crew to find the laundry and sort out the problem, but, in general, we truly enjoy the service!

Thanks to everyone, it sounds like the Elite laundry issues have in the main been resolved. We also have had the experience of having a steward forget to deliver our laundry. The only time I get a bit antsy about laundry return is those last couple of days before the end of the cruise but so far so good. I also find the price of laundry so good on Princess I have paid to have a formal shirt laundered or a dinner jacket or tux cleaned just to be sure they are returned before we begin packing.
