It is finally here our 30th Anniversary bucket list trip. Land and Sea ALASKA!

What did you pack and wish you left home and what did you leave home and wish you packed??

Also, for tips on tours, land and sea, room service on sea, Knick Knacks, food on street, how much cash are you comfortable bringing?

Appreciate all the great help during this 1.5 year journey to this point!:D

Can't offer you any tips as we have yet to go our trip, but like you we will be celebrating our 30th anniversary. We leave next Tuesday.

I'm setting up a celebration for each night of the trip as we will be a party of 11 consisting of:

MIL/FIL 60th anniversary

SIL earning her Master's in Nursing as a nurse practioner

Son graduating college and starting Grad School

Neice celebrating 11 years as an American citizen

Another Neice and her husband celebrating 1 year anniversary

Nephew-in-law's parents celebrating 33rd anniversary.

Have a great trip and enjoy Alaska!

Happy 30th Anniversary to lovetotraveltx, Dizzneefan, and spouses! What a wonderful way to celebrate.

Don't forget your binoculars, if you have them. Thankfully I remembered at the last moment, and on our recent Alaskan cruise we saw bear, mountain goats, eagles, and whales. If you don't have binoculars, I would suggest buying some. They will last you for decades.

Have fun. :)

Happy Anniversary:D Hope you have a wonderful cruise. I sailed to

Alaska last month and it was FABULOUS:D

I sail solo so how much cash I bring would probably be quite a bit

different than what you bring.......

We had the most magnificant weather...very unusual....in the 50s

and 60's every day and SUNNY EVERY DAY.....it only drizzled once

that I can remember.....I decided to leave my fleece jacket home

and it was the right decision.....I never needed it:)

I did wear long sleeves (layered a cotton tank underneath) and did use

a sweater/jacket......the sleeves and back are knit and the front is

quilted.....it ended up being the perfect piece of outerwear for me.:)

Tips for tours? Too late for what I would recommend. Island Wings in

Ketchikan is one of the best tours I have ever done, anywhere:).....You

need to make reservations ahead of time.......wish you had asked before

now.....it is floatplane ride.....amazing.

Skagway......take the train.......it is interesting, fun and the scenery is

awesome!

We are planning to hike in Denali, so we are taking hiking boots. When we just did a sea/inside passage trip, we did not. I second the binoculars recommendation. Gloves and ear muffs are nice to have on the glacier cruising day to be on deck watching. I got a rain jacket to take this time; I did not have a waterproof jacket last time. My husband has a fleece jacket for this trip; I may just take a sweatshirt for layering. An umbrella. I'm interested in the waterproof spray that people are taking about on CC, so we may look into that too.

Both of our Alaska cruises were in August. We wished we had packed gloves and caps. We were wearing jackets but our hands, heads, and ears were very cold during the glacier viewing. We were on deck for quite a long time watching Sawyer Glacier (first cruise) and Hubbard Glacier (second cruise) as they calved. They were unforgettable experiences!

Congratulations on your upcoming anniversary! Alaska is a great choice! We have another cruise booked for next year to celebrate our 50th.
