Who does princess think they are fooling

It's called marketing and these promotions are done to attract new sales, not to provide lower prices to customers who have already booked the cruise. Its really up to the us to separate the wheat from the chaff. The disappointment here is that there wasn't the anticipated lower price that we all hope for.

Yep it is all about marketing and it is not just Princess they all do it.

Look at the reports on Celebrity and pricing with and without 123 go.

You MUST do your homework.

Exactly , they all do it . Princess is no different .

I've got to believe they wouldn't do if it didn't work .

I always book my cruises at least a year ahead. Just my preference. I keep an eye on the fares and if I see a sale that includes my sailing, I call Princess and ask for the fare drop. Have always gotten it. I booked my December cruise on the Regal last August and when the 50th Celebration Sale came up, I saved $500, got $100 OBC and free Specialty Dinner. WIN, WIN in my opinion. The latest "Red, White and Blue Sale", prices are higher, no OBC and no Specialty Dinner. You just have to see what is the better deal when these "sales" come up.

All cruise lines have these "sales". I have only cruised on Princess. Hubby refuses to try any other line. My friend always sails Royal Caribbean and finds the same types of "sales" with them too.

RCI's sales are never very good either. They'll drop the price a little or offer OBC, a free massage or other perk, but their prices are just super high compared to Princess.

All of these companies are in business to make money. I just wish Princess would offer what Celebrity does when it comes to pricing & perks.

I was on an RCI B2B2B two years ago and through various sales had the cost of the first two segments reduced by 33%. The last segment did not go on sale much and ended up only about 3% less than when booked.

Overall it was about $107/day total for both of us including taxes and port fees for 41 days (inside cabin). Hard to match that price on Princess.
