Question Regarding Our Time in Juneau

How much time is needed to explore the port area (shopping etc) in Juneau? We are looking at taking two excursions while there but that only leaves about an hour to an hour & a half to explore the port itself. Is that enough time? We are not big shoppers but want to find a few souvenirs and stuff.

To clarify...

  • what time is the ship docked?
  • what time is the ship departing?
  • which dock.... some docks are a VERY long walk? Which ship?
  • what excursions are in you Juneau for?
  • what do you plan to be shopping for in Juneau? Diamond's International? What about a meal at the crab shack? how long is the wait?

We are technically docked from 1pm-10pm but are doing the small boat Tracy Arm excursion which gets us back at 3:3pm. Than at 5:30pm we want to do the Taku Glacier & Lodge float plane excursion which includes dinner. So, we are not worried about eating while in port and not really looking for anything in particular. Like I said, souvenirs which would be like a t-shirt or Christmas ornament. Nothing in particular.

you have plenty of time, prior to your tour to do some shopping.

you should have enough time, but if you do not,in Ketchican they have many shops right next to the docks and many of the stores with souvenirs are the same ones, especially tee shirts and alaska knick knacks!
