I looked at the Kai Tak cruise terminal website. Last time I was there it was still the airport and Hong Kong was still British so I'm not sure about the visa situation.

Not had much luck finding the rest of the itinerary yet though.

I have found a site, with dates, that shows QM2 leaving S'ton for 2017 WC, heading off to South Africa on normal route, then Australia, Far East and then home again via Suez, and calling at Naples of all places!

How accurate this is, one can only guess, but the HK dates did coincide with those that Host Hattie found.

Hattie

How did you find the dates that QM2 will be in Hong Kong?

Also am I correct in thinking that you don't need a visa for Hong Kong?

We were there joining a World Cruise in 2010, after it had been handed back and we didn't need a Visa then.

Here's what appears to be the whole thing. Apologies for the formatting it was copy and pasted from an agency website.

I take no responsibility for accuracy of the information! This is for QM2.

What is interesting about this itinerary is that QM2 is going to Colombo but missing out India.

Now that is a big move as India is always on World Cruise itineraries in this part of Asia. Many people have got fed up with the visa situation in India and the cost of just one day there. So maybe Cunard have decided to skip it!

China and India are the only countries on a world cruise that British Nationals have to apply for visas.

The rest of the visas for other countries are obtained by the ship and you are charged to you on board account. India can be a very expensive visa to obtain.

Of course one needs an Esta for USA and Australia but that is easy and done on line. China and India are by far the worst places to get visas for.

So QM2 skipping India will be a bonus to many.

However, I have to say it has to be one of the most fascinating places in the world so I would hate to miss out on it if I had never been in the past.

I thought that was interesting as well, I remember a fair amount of discussion about the difficulty in obtaining Indian visas. I've been to China on a land trip and the visa process wasn't too bad although the travel company dealt with it for me.
