What to do in Fort Lauderdale after disembaration....with luggage and 2 children?

After our 10-nt Eastern Carib cruise in November, we will disembark in Fort Lauderdale and do not have our return flight home until 6:30 pm. We have to kids ages 5/7 and I am trying to figure out what we can do for the day....and what we can do to avoid carting our luggage around?

I have looked at the Princess offered tours, but I am wondering if there are any other tour companies that pick up at the port upon disembarkation and allow luggage to come along?

Any other suggestions for the day greatly appreciated!!

Thanks,

Jennifer

I did a quick search and see that Rodeway Inn & Suites offers a Day Room package. It includes transport from the ship to hotel and then from hotel to airport. You get use of the pool and a guest room from 10am - 6 pm for $50 and you can store your luggage with them if you want to go explore. Other hotels may offer Day Room packages as well- do an Internet search and see what pops up if that sounds like a good option for you and your family.

You'll have more freedom of movement - plus a place to store your luggage - if you rent a car for the day. Check out http://www.sunny.org for attractions in and around Fort Lauderdale.

You may want to ask this question on the Florida Departures Board; this thread may be moved there.

If you qualify for ez check with your luggage, why not do that?

Also Princess offers post cruise tours that drop off at the airport.....

One is usually a harbor cruise.....

This local car company is excellent. We have used them many times and they will pu at the port and drop off at the airport. Very reasonable.

What are your dates?

If they are between November 5-9 any of your above options are going to be moot.

The FLL Int'l Boat Show is over those dates. I would suggest pricelining a hotel room at one of the airport hotels. While your room may not be ready, you can have them hold your luggage and use the facilities. Plus, the you will end up at a much nicer hotel.
