jennymaxgirl Posted July 6, 2015 #1 Share Posted July 6, 2015 After our 10-nt Eastern Carib cruise in November, we will disembark in Fort Lauderdale and do not have our return flight home until 6:30 pm. We have to kids ages 5/7 and I am trying to figure out what we can do for the day....and what we can do to avoid carting our luggage around? I have looked at the Princess offered tours, but I am wondering if there are any other tour companies that pick up at the port upon disembarkation and allow luggage to come along? Any other suggestions for the day greatly appreciated!! Thanks, Jennifer
Rare Shelly97060 Posted July 6, 2015 #2 Share Posted July 6, 2015 I did a quick search and see that Rodeway Inn & Suites offers a Day Room package. It includes transport from the ship to hotel and then from hotel to airport. You get use of the pool and a guest room from 10am - 6 pm for $50 and you can store your luggage with them if you want to go explore. Other hotels may offer Day Room packages as well- do an Internet search and see what pops up if that sounds like a good option for you and your family. Check out http://www.sunny.org for attractions in and around Fort Lauderdale. You may want to ask this question on the Florida Departures Board; this thread may be moved there. Also Princess offers post cruise tours that drop off at the airport..... One is usually a harbor cruise..... http://www.carriebcruises.com/ This local car company is excellent. We have used them many times and they will pu at the port and drop off at the airport. Very reasonable. http://goldcoastcruiseandflyparking.com/rent-a-car/ Edited July 6, 2015 by Colo Cruiser
AandBmom Posted July 7, 2015 #7 Share Posted July 7, 2015 We hired a shuttle driver for the day. He took us to Holiday park everglades for a tour then to lunch. He held on to our luggage. It worked well for us.
Bonnie1750 Posted July 7, 2015 #8 Share Posted July 7, 2015 We usually rent a car and take the water taxi. It is about 12-15 dollars and you can get off and get back on and really get to see much.
BlueHerons Posted July 8, 2015 #9 Share Posted July 8, 2015 What are your dates? If they are between November 5-9 any of your above options are going to be moot. The FLL Int'l Boat Show is over those dates. I would suggest pricelining a hotel room at one of the airport hotels. While your room may not be ready, you can have them hold your luggage and use the facilities. Plus, the you will end up at a much nicer hotel.
