bubbles4ever Posted July 17, 2015 #26 Share Posted July 17, 2015 We sail on her in October. I'm trying to convince my husband that we should just eat in the pay restaurants for dinner each night. I'm just tired of the five day menu. I'm also looking forward to Guys Burgers and the Alchemy Bar- I've never sailed on a ship that had either. When in October, we're on her the 23rd -31 Southern Caribbean
toby #1 Posted July 17, 2015 #27 Share Posted July 17, 2015 I had a very nice win on the Blues Brothers slot machine on Sunshine. I'd say that is worth checking out. ;-) Have a great cruise! SHHHHHHH, now I will never get on it. :D

az mom Posted July 26, 2015 #36 Share Posted July 26, 2015 Previous list posted a while back and slightly tweaked by me :) Some we used and some we didn't but thought I would share them anyway. Tips for Cruising the Sunshine: • When eating on the Lido deck, head to the aft at the Havana Bar seating area. It is cooler, less crowded, quieter, and has more seating. • The Taste Bar on Deck 5 (Promenade) offers a large breakfast. There are no lines and plenty of seating. The Lido Marketplace can be extremely crowded, chaotic and bursting with cranky rude passengers at breakfast (especially on port days). • If you truly want serenity, try the port and starboard outside decks on Deck 3 (Lobby). Beautiful ocean views (sunsets and sunrises), lounge chairs, shade, and very few passengers. • If you really want to take a dip in the main pool, hit it before 10:00 AM or after 4:00 PM. It is a crazy, crazy zoo in between those times. • If you are in a hurry, do NOT go to Sea Day Brunch. The service here has been a crap shoot with every Carnival cruise we have been on. • Get to the Comedy shows at least 15 minutes early, or you may have seats around the corner and have to watch via TV screen, have to stand, or be turned away. • The floor seats in the main theater (Liquid Lounge) fill up quickly, but if you don't mind a side stadium seat, you can arrive right up until showtime. • If you choose Your Time Dining and want to eat dinner between 6:30 and 7:30, you WILL have to wait. Wait in line to get your name on the list, and then wait to be buzzed when your table is ready. We always went to dinner before 6:30 and never waited more than 5 minutes in line, and never had to wait for our table after we had checked in. • The waterslides and the ropes course often have long lines on sea days. We have found that there are never lines on port days upon getting back on the ship. This is a great time to try all three slides out quickly before you shower and get dressed for dinner. By the way, the slides are super fast and awesome: two thumbs up! • Dive In Movies (outdoor seaside theater screen) are nice for a quiet, crowd-detoxing experience. Wrap up in a blanket, snuggle, and enjoy the free popcorn. • The Serenity has a hot tub, which is nice to enjoy at night. • And if you want to be where the action is at night, head to the Ocean Plaza area. It is bustling with live music and bars.
SAILONNOW Posted July 26, 2015 #37 Share Posted July 26, 2015 I understand that on the outside of Deck 3 (Lobby) it's either Portside or Starboard, is a Smoking area. Is that True? Thanks, az mom for the great pointers.

sjcruiser Posted July 27, 2015 #42 Share Posted July 27, 2015 I think the Steakhouse and JiJi's is a must!!! We sailed on her last year, and will be back onboard Friday. KatieCharlotte Posted July 27, 2015 #44 Share Posted July 27, 2015 Do some of you work for the Toast Marketing Board? (Sorry, Jasper FForde book reference.) I appreciate all the info, as I will likely be on the Sunshine twice in the next year or two, for a family cruise and a no-kids-allowed friends cruise. :D I have lots of questions, but for now: Would you recommend Deck 3 rather than Serenity for quiet place to read? I have a friend who doesn't like the loud music on Lido and loves a chair in the shade. What are the not-to-miss evening shows on an 8-day for kids who like song/dance and variety shows? Can you tell me anything more about the Sports Deck? Crowded on sea days? Also, is it correct that only adults can play x-box in the EA Sports Bar? (asking only to prepare my teen son in case of a rainy sea day)

mjschro Posted July 27, 2015 #46 Share Posted July 27, 2015 Just off Sunshine Sunday July 26th, will not repeat all that has been said, thoroughly enjoyed the ship, did not find it any more crowded than the ships we have been on previously, the exception is the Lido deck around the pool and Serenity areas, but we did not spend a lot of time there any way. We ate breakfast in the Havana Bar Area every morning, not crowded, and they had eggs and omelets made to order. Liked the ship very much, and also the alternate eating establishments were all quite good. We usually take things in stride, and don't complain much, but the biggest turnoff especially during the summer is the fact that many groups of kids, mostly young teenagers are running wild up and down the halls at 2 AM. Also they seem to want to camp out in the hallways, and never go in to their assigned cabins. This was the major problem, and the only source of noise we heard. Green4me Posted July 28, 2015 #49 Share Posted July 28, 2015 You can buy the Cheers package at the atrium bar, the casino bar and at a special table they have set up near the lido pool. We have done Cheers on last two Sunshine cruises and will do so again, it works for us, not everyone Great list of things not to miss, I'm especially excited about the Taste bar breakfast as we are on Deck 5 aft this next trip. We did enjoy the taste bar in the evenings, DW loves the Alchemy Bar, I am a Red frog guy. We both enjoy the piano Bar, this ship seems to have one of the liveliest we have experienced. We like to play mini golf and enjoy the slides
