Aug 24 4 night Enchantment cruise

Recommended Posts

We were on the Monarch a few years back on a 4 day Bahama trip that ended up not stopping at Coco Cay or Nassau. We just rode around for 4 days.

We got no compensation and had a great time.

Try to make the best of it.

Maybe if prices drop down very low for that sailing we will join you:)

We live about an hour from PC

So, why do you think the the staff on board had anything to do with the timing of this and can offer you some resolution? This was totally out of their control as well as ours. May I suggest that you take your concerns to the front office in Miami before the cruise.

We plan on having a great time since we will be on a fantastic ship with a super crew!

I did contact Crown and Anchor on this issue (in writing) and they basically pointed to the contract and said they can change itineraries for any reason with no compensation required.

They missed my point, which was the timing of the announcement. So I replied basically asking when RCI knew of this change.

I really do not expect an answer to that question. But I had to ask it.

We too plan to have a great time. We've been on Enchantment before and loved it, and we've had plenty of days on Coco Cay and at sea (and will have in the future). My biggest issue with the change is that, instead of having two of the four nights at sea--sailing with a breeze, looking out at the ocean--we'll be sitting in port. Again, not a huge deal, but if we end up facing another ship--and losing our anticipated privacy on the balcony and beauty of the open ocean--I will feel like the change had an overall negative impact on the cruise. That doesn't mean that we won't still enjoy our time--we will--but it's certainly a negative change.

My point about speaking with the crew onboard rather than corporate in advance actually stemmed from someone's comment earlier on this thread, which said that RCI representatives actually told them to inquire onboard as to whether any compensation would be available. I don't think the onboard crew had any more to do with the change than the people taking phone calls for RCI. But I've found--based on past experience--that those who work on the ship and are trained in customer service tend to be better at providing customer service. So, if I do decide to raise this as an issue (which I mentioned I likely will only do if we end up facing another ship or construction), then I plan to raise it onboard rather than calling up beforehand.

Not trying to start an argument.

AKA passing the buck

Any such compensation would have to be communicated to and approved by shoreside corporate.

Look at par. 6 of cruise ticket contract. I plan to raise this onboard, especially if our room faces construction or another ship for three says. I still haven't gotten a notice yet.

You may want to check your spam folder. I didn't think I had been notified and Found out about the change here, but it was there.

Just an FYI on stateroom availability.

As of 7/18 AM: approx. 5 weeks from sailing>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

at least 210 inside/outside staterooms are still open

and at least 42 balcony and higher staterooms are open

If the prices drop enough I might jump on it.

We are watching it as well, neighbor:) Lots of availability right now. In another month or so we will find out if RCL is going to hold to their new policy of not dropping the prices to the bargain level like they have done in the past.

The word "bargain" is very subjective.

Some might say it is a "bargain" right now.

RCI will do what is best for the bottom line.

The bargain prices I am talking about are the ones that have happened the last few years on these 3/4 day sailings end of August beginning of September. Last minute prices have gone as low as $109 that I have seen.

Agreed...I paid $109 last year for a 4 nighter, late August.

But then RCI would say that $99 is a "bargain" price. (so they still follow their "new" policy)

Subjective..........;)

C&A called me back yesterday in response to an inquiry and told me that the casino would NOT be open while in port. I thought the notice someone posted on here earlier in the week said it would. So I guess we'll see.

Below is what was sent to me from RCI>>>>>>

"Dear Enchantment of the Seas Guest:

During your sailing, we will be in the process of installing an advanced emissions purification (AEP) system – also known as a scrubber – to remove sulfur dioxide particulate matter from the ship’s engine exhaust streams. Doing this helps protect the environment, and keeps us ahead of government standards for emissions.

In order to perform the required work, it is necessary to extend the time Enchantment of the Seas is in Nassau, Bahamas. Therefore, it will be necessary to modify your itinerary.

We will be offering a wonderful program of entertainment, food and activities while the ship is alongside in Nassau, and our casino and shops will be open. Additional details on all of your onboard options will be available in the Cruise Compass. Our staff will ensure you have a delightful time onboard.

On behalf of our Officers, Staff and Crew we would like to welcome you onboard and we wish you a wonderful cruise vacation.

Sincerely,

Royal Caribbean International"

This says the casino will be open. We shall see.

Do they all work for the same company?

I had the same thing happen to me, last week, when I spoke to 3 different RCI "certified vacation planners". Different answers to the same question.

Not surprising. Hope it's open though.

Have you seen 3 day prices that low? Seems to me they bottom out at around $149. BTW, pretty sure they excluded 3 and 4 day cruises from their new policy

If they're allowed. They open it while at Coco Cay, but Nassau might be different.

They usually open around 6:00 when the ship stays till midnight, so it shouldn't be a big deal. Don't recall shops being open though

Oh really? Didn't know that. So then it's open while in port? Makes sense it would be open then.

Yes-

EN on 8/22/14 was at $129

EN 9/5/14 had cabins at $129 or $119 for Fl residents, SR or military.

EN 9/12/14 $140

EN 9/19/14 $139

When the MN was in PC there were weekend rates at $109 and $119

MJ out of Miami had rooms for $99 a couple of years ago on a Sept sailing.

3 day on the EN 10/3/14 was at $119. Don't know if these will happen any longer since RCL has said they will no longer have these kind of discounts

Received late yesterday (7/19)>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

"Please accept our most sincere apologies for your disappointment at the itinerary change and your frustration that the decision was made the change the itinerary after final payment date. While we understand your frustrations, please be advised that changing an itinerary is never done unless all less disruptive (to our guests) options have been ruled out. Regrettably, these options may not be ruled out until relatively close to the sail date.

Rest assured that your comments have been forwarded to the appropriate department for an internal review. And again, please accept our apologies."
