SMN73 Posted July 26, 2015 #1 Share Posted July 26, 2015 I'm thinking about taking my first solo cruise either the first or second weekend of November on majesty. If I booked now I'd have to pay $200 now and the balance in just a couple weeks. I know not everything is an exact science, but in your experience, would it be best to wait until after final payment date and see if prices fall? What has been your experience and what would you do? Thanks for the input.
Clarea Posted July 26, 2015 #2 Share Posted July 26, 2015 (edited) If you want a particular type or location of stateroom, I'd book now. If you are good with any kind of stateroom, anywhere on the ship, and willing to take a chance with higher prices, and possibly not having space on the cruise, then I'd wait. dplusd Posted July 26, 2015 #3 Share Posted July 26, 2015 For the past year or so, discounts after final payment seem rare and the best pricing seems to be when booked more than a year in advance. That said, if you are flexible on the week you cruise and on the stateroom you have, I would be inclined to wait it out and book closer to the sail date. Of course, you risk the price going higher too. Tough call...
CAT GIRL Posted July 26, 2015 #4 Share Posted July 26, 2015 Are you flying? That would factor into my decision as well. But assuming you are driving, I would look at a certain website and see how many rooms are still available. That would factor into my level of risk tolerance. Summerknight Posted July 27, 2015 #5 Share Posted July 27, 2015 We have only waited one time (winter 2015) for a hopeful last minute price drop. It did not work out for us. If you really want to cruise on the date/ship you have your eye on, I say book it!
