emdia43 Posted July 28, 2015 #1 Share Posted July 28, 2015 Anyone used this program? Are the perks worth having? My two grandsons are Emerald cruisers with Royal Caribbean, which should make them Gold level M Life members... They are going to Las Vegas in August. Is it worth their while signing up with M Life- it looks like the only perks are for gamblers. They are staying at MGM Grand but not for the casino, they're not interested in gambling, they are part of a large stag weekend group...
EllaDuChien Posted July 28, 2015 #2 Share Posted July 28, 2015 It is really only worth it if they gamble. That being said, its free to sign up so it can't hurt, but the perks will only come from spending money in the respective casinos.
CruisinHeels Posted July 28, 2015 #3 Share Posted July 28, 2015 MLife members will get frequent emails from MGM regarding discounted stays and exclusive events at their casino properties. A friend who has a gold MLife status also gets emails about free and discounted RCI cruises from time to time, but his status is based upon hours of time spent at the tables gambling, instead of cruise nights. If they decide to enroll, encourage them to show their card every time they spend money at any MGM property. It is also helpful to make any and all arrangements and reservations through a casino host, and don't be shy to ask about perks, room upgrades, meal comps, etc. But if they do not spend time at the tables (it's more about time and average bet than how much won or lost), the casino host will be able to see that and it may mean less free stuff in the future. One more thing, I believe the 5% cash advance fee will be waived for them at the casino onboard, but if they aren't gamblers, this may not be a valued perk. Good luck! BekkaW Posted July 28, 2015 #4 Share Posted July 28, 2015 We were pre existing Pearl Mlife members (separate to our C&A status) and we get a range of perks including discounts on room bookings, bypass line at buffets, discount on shopping within the resorts Even if not going to gamble these are worthwhile - especially the room discount! cb at sea Posted July 28, 2015 #5 Share Posted July 28, 2015 You will get something from an Mlife hotel/casino if you sign up....but WHAT you get (and how much) depends totally on how much you spend in the casino. Don't gamble more than your pre-planned budget....some folks will gamble thousands just to get a $60 dinner! Ridiculous!
Royal2464 Posted July 28, 2015 #6 Share Posted July 28, 2015 As Bekka W indicated there are benefits to having Mlife status, even if you do not gamble. Higher tiers qualify for special hotel rates, special lines at hotel check in, special line at the buffet and expedited seating at restaurants. It's great for avoiding standing in long lines, if for no other reason. If you gamble, comps are accrued on the card and enable you to self comp meals, etc.

Don't gamble more than your pre-planned budget....some folks will gamble thousands just to get a $60 dinner! Ridiculous! If you have C&A status you can join mLife and never gamble a cent! You will still get the perks associated with that mLife status. Perhaps we gamble thousands for entertainment...the dinner is a nice addition in recognition of something I would do either way Edited July 28, 2015 by BekkaW
ckrobyn Posted July 28, 2015 #8 Share Posted July 28, 2015 I took advantage of the reciprocal relationship between MLife and RCI. As a Diamond Plus I am automatically Platinum with MLife. We are visiting Las Vegas in a few weeks for the first time. I got an amazing deal on a 2 bedroom 1700sq ft Penthouse at the Mirage and I have yet to set foot in a Vegas casino! We won't be gambling. Thoughts? Cyber tag..its free to sign up go to mlife.com..since you are not going until Sept you can play fb game(free) myvegasslots and you can earn free food and show tickets ..you can also call and sign up and they should confirm your level with RCI and then you would be placed at the same level with MLife..just like C&A the higher you are the more perks you get. ckrobyn Posted July 29, 2015 #13 Share Posted July 29, 2015 Comps and perks don't kick in until you actually gamble and start earning points.....but they do entice you to visit Vegas by giving some pretty sweet hotel deals. I've also been playing My Vegas slots and have accumulated enough points to eat free for a few days :)
