I said a good place, LOL Never tried mariott courtyard, that looks like my best bet.

Do you have a car? I assumed you were carless.

 

If you do have a car, the question is whether you want to wander around Eizabeth or Newark to dine.

You can actually dine in at the hotel. Ask the front desk...they have a menu for a really good place with pizzas and other Italian food and you can eat in the breakfast room and they deliver. You can purchase beer and wine from the front desk if you wish. The front desk staff is very accommodating. How are the renovations coming?

Let's see what others recommend then. My suggestion would be to look at the interesting restaurants in the Newark Ironbound District - http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurants-g46671-Newark_New_Jersey.html

What you have to understand is that Newark is a highly urban area - you should pick a restaurant with parking and have a good GPS. Really not an area you want to get lost in.
