So whats with Viking air in conjunction with a river cruse?

This just seems strange. 6 of us (all close friends) are going on a Viking river cruise next month. The 3 couples are all on different flights. It's really not that big a deal, but you'd think everyone (not just the 6 of us) who are flying out of JFK would all be on the same flight.

Not very surprising. Viking likely is like all other cruise companies that sell air - they bulk purchase stuff ahead of time, and just plugs people in wherever it fits them (Viking, not you) best. Doesn't matter if they're flying between the same places on the same dates...they may all end up on British Airways, or they may end up 2x on British Airways, 2x on Lufthansa, 2x on Air France, or whatever.
