cb at sea Posted August 1, 2015 #2 Share Posted August 1, 2015 Just a different weather system...shouldn't affect your cruise!
CruiserBruce Posted August 1, 2015 #3 Share Posted August 1, 2015 Yes, it looks like an el nino. However, it is not predictable if the result will be the rain bullseye aimed at Southern California, Central California, Northern California or far north, at the Oregon border area. All have happened in the past. So, just enjoy your cruise. What happens, happens.
SPacificbound Posted August 1, 2015 #4 Share Posted August 1, 2015 I wouldn't let what might happen weatherwise control what I do. Go on your booked cruise and enjoy. :)
navybankerteacher Posted August 1, 2015 #5 Share Posted August 1, 2015 While El Niño is a Pacific Ocean phenomenon, it's effects are not significantly felt in the Pacific - unless, of course, you are an anchovy fisherman. Aside from increasing the anchovy catch in waters off the west coast of South America, it's primary effects are heavy rains along Pacific coastal regions and, apparently, a stronger Atlantic hurricane season. Cruisin' Chick Posted August 2, 2015 #6 Share Posted August 2, 2015 Many of us in California are keeping our fingers crossed that there will be an El Nino. On two of my Hawaiian cruises, we got rain on the ship. Not a big deal as it was a warm rain after a few days off from LA. At one point, the bridge announced that the captain was steering the ship more south to go around a storm.
