INFO on website - or lack thereof

I am contemplating booking on the Reflection in a few months, but before doing so, am interested in learning more about the cabin (such as size & layout), and the offered shore excursions, and onboard entertainment. From what I can gather, I cannot get that information until AFTER I've booked.

It appears that there is a charge for several of the entertainment venues. Is that correct?

I can't determine if there is a piano bar, or a place for dancing (not disco).

Is there a place where I can find this info that I am missing?

THanks

All of this can be done without a booking on the X website, here's some links:

Celebrity website has cabin plans. http://www.celebritycruises.com/ships/celebrity-reflection

Shore excursion browser: http://www.celebritycruises.com/plan-a-cruise/shore-excursions#top

Reflection Overview: http://www.celebritycruises.com/ships/celebrity-reflection

No charge for any entertainment venue that comes to mind,. There are specialty restaurants that you pay for.

Reflection has no disco (Quasar) like other S-class ships do, it became a conference center. SO dancing happens in the Grand Foyer and Sky Lounge generally. Some will dance at Ensemble lounge, depending one what kind of dancing you want.

No piano bar.

Thanks for the info. Appreciate the excursion info.

But the cabin info has no real info. about the cabin except fluff. Never shows size or layout - that's what I'd like to see.

My partner is going to be on a cruise as an instructor. She had a roommate, but the roomie had to cancel, so now either she has to pay a single supplement(She was not getting paid to teach, only a free cruise. But now that she's a single in a room, they'll make her pay for the 2nd person - that's not right!), or I come onboard. I think cost would be similar, EXCEPT for onboard purchases that I'd make if I was on the ship too.

Last time I sailed Celebrity was in the early 90's. Been sailing HAL, Regent & Crystal since then.

If you click on Deck Plans, there is a place to enter the state room you are interested in. Type in the number, and it pulls up a map showing where the room is plus a picture of the room layout. For example, typed in room 7226 and got a the layout, where it's located and a description:

TRY THIS:

Go to the Message Boards and Under cruise lines, click on Celebrity. The 2nd "sticky" down from the top is the S-class cabin info. Click on it and it brings up a post that has "S-class cabin spreadsheet". If you click on that it will take you to the spreadsheet developed by LibraryLady. You can look up information shared by other posters of many of the cabins on all the Solstice ships.

The ability to view cabin layouts and amenities has been BROKEN for about a week now. Don't hold your breath waiting for it to be fixed.

The one thing that is NEVER broken on their website would be those annoying popups....

One of the User Reviews of this ship mentioned that only the main shows were free, nad that they had to pay for some of the smaller venue shows. I can't find that review right now.

Summit for a while (maybe still?) had a circus like theme night in cellar masters that was for fee, but it never rolled out elsewhere that I know of, it was (is?) called Indulgence.

Some of the exercise and fitness programs are for a fee.

The only smaller venues on reflection are ensemble lounge (basically part of hallway), sky lounge (can't imagine closing it for fee, though they do a comedy show on summit there at night and swipe sea pass cards to verify age - it LOOKS like taking a fee but they don't, but hadn't heard of this rolling out anywhere but summit either).

They do hold wine, champagne, liquor, beer tastings in cellar masters, and charge a fee for that.

I know some of RCL and NCL have for-fee shows on their ships. Any chance it was related to their ships?

Would really love to know more.

A recent review of Reflections by SYNDID ( http://www.cruisecritic.com/v-3/memberreviews/memberreview.cfm?EntryID=509256) had these comments about paying for entertainment:

"Entertainment was a let down. The aim of the ship was to get as much money out of passengers as possible and the constant sell sell sell attitude was annoying. They wanted you to pay extra for alternative evening entertainment so if you were intending on watching the main acts in the theatre, you would be disappointed at the lack of variety. "

Huh, makes very little sense.

The theatre should have had 3 full production shows, it's true there is no full broadway production every night. The 1st night should have been a "welcome aboard" show that is a teaser to all the entertainment upcoming. There should have been a cirque de soleil style show one night with aerialists and acrobats.

Other nights, it will be a piano singer, a lounge singer, comedian, juggler comedian etc. But there is never a charge to go in the theatre. I agree with their position that the non-broadway style acts are similar, and the comedians can repeat (on our TA we had the same comedian 3 times, he made it a point to vary his act however), but honestly on 10 nights on a ship that's not a mega ship, you can't really expect a full broadway show every night.

I really can not think of any evening "entertainment" one would have to pay for. Unless the thought was just to drink at the bars or lose money in the casino, os spend at the duty free shops.

Some people hate using the atrium for entertainment, I like it, as you can stand on the balconies of all the floors all the way up and watch, best spot is from Martini Bar. Passport bar is right off the main foyer so you can sit and watch, but you have to be early to get seats. They set up live bands and such there, and do some of the cooking demonstrations there, no fee. I do admit I miss the rondezvous lounge concept that is missing on S class hips that the M class have, which is why the atrium becomes the entertainment venue.

In the review, you can see his recurrent theme of being annoyed by the upsell opportunities of specialty restaurants, I have to assume that colored things.
