Where to watch the ship leave in Jacksonville?

We are going to be in St Augustine next week and see that the Fascination will depart on Monday. Just wondering where a good place to watch them leave would be. Just getting our cruise fix before we leave in October on our cruise.

Singleton's Seafood Shack

sits next to the Ferry Landing, between the Coast Guard Base and the Mayport Naval Base ... towards the mouth of the river .... right on A1A

But I have no idea what time the ship would pass .... this would be about 10 miles down stream from the cruise terminal ... could be as little as half an hour ....

Singleton's is great. Looks a little rough around the edges, but we've never been disappointed in our meals there.

We've gone to watch the ship leave a few times, and it seems to take ~45 minutes to make it down the channel. Download the marinetraffic app to follow it as it gets closer to you. The first thing you'll see will be the distinctive whale tail rounding the bend.

As I recall, you can watch the ships from Chowder Ted's on the north side of the river bend at Blount Island along Heckscher Drive.

And unless you are south of the river or closer to Mayport heading to Singleston's could be out of your way, but if you continue down Heckscher over the bridge at Pine Island, you'll come to the Sanddollar which is directly across the river from Singleton's just up from the ferry landing on that side of the river. There's a good size parking lot at the ferry landing and you can walk out to the river bank from there. IMO, food is better at Singleton's, but you might get obstructed views if you're inside.

a little ruff around the edges is possibly the understatement of the year unless they painted the place!

But maybe not as bad as Alabama Jacks in north Key Largo . . .

but I can't remember a time I was in Mayport for business that we didn't end up there for a meal hosted by the folks stationed there.

But if it looks too rough .... there are several places in the general area ....

They have not. ;) Probably since the 60's or so.
