spindle6917 Posted August 31, 2015 #1 Share Posted August 31, 2015 (edited) Hello all; I have traveled extensively but I have never taken a cruise, some friends of mine talked me into it, so I book this cruise: Royal Caribbean Independence of the Seas Departing January 11th from Fort Lauderdale for a five day excursion. I am a single man; I booked a superior ocean view stateroom with balcony. My question is this, Am I going to feel socially awkward in that room class because of my single status? Will there be other single cruisers like me? If so, are there activities for us? My friends that are joining me are all married. Thank you in advance for all feed back Edited August 31, 2015 by spindle6917 TMI
Krazy Kruizers Posted August 31, 2015 #2 Share Posted August 31, 2015 Welcome to Cruise Critic. Usually there will be listed on the daily program a place where single/solo cruisers can meet. You can ask questions on the RCI board here: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=83 You may be interested in joining your Roll Call and seeing what others are doing. RCI does have a Meet and Mingle on their ships so you can meet other cruisers. SuiteTraveler Posted August 31, 2015 #3 Share Posted August 31, 2015 No, you will not feel awkward in that cabin or any other for that matter. Lots of people travel on their own. Once you are onboard, the best advice I can give you is to go to different activities and events and be friendly and meet people and make friends. You will have a great time! cb at sea Posted August 31, 2015 #4 Share Posted August 31, 2015 You will have friends onboard....no one will know what type of cabin you have, unless you tell them...and I can't imagine how that would be "awkward" at all! Activities (if you want to join in) are for everyone. Many "couples" split up during the day....one is here, the other is there....folks aren't joined at the hip at all.
