Coral princess for honeymoon? - advice needed

My fiance and I are searching for a honeymoon. We get married December next year. We've seen the coral princess cruise travelling from fort lauderdale to jamaica, grand cayman, panama canal, cozumel etc.

We're both 23. Do you think the coral cruise is a good ship for a honeymoon? We're not party animals so low key nightlife is fine by us. We're looking for a luxurious trip visiting beautiful destinations!

Are there many twenty somethings on this cruise usually?

Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks.

You generally won't find as many families or young folks on the longer cruises, 10 days is too many days to use up for vacation. Many experienced cruisers pick this longer type of itinerary for just that reason. That said, I think any ship would be wonderful for a honeymoon.

You might look around at the various websites that post lots of passenger pictures of the ships; webshots and cruiseclues are just two. Sit down with your ship diagram from the brochure, and look at all the places on the ship. Do they appeal to you? Would you want to spend time there? You will find age of passengers is a relative thing; some oldsters are wonderful party guests, some are not. The ship ambience and its itinerary should have a big appeal to you, if this one does, then you will have a wonderful time. IF not keep looking for one that does.

The Coral is my favorite ship and the itinerary is my favorite of the Caribbean sailings. The ship is beautiful, with lots to do. Hard to say what the age groups will be, but I have always found all ages on all my Princess cruises. If you choose the Coral to the Panama Canal, I guarantee you will have a great honeymoon!!!!!

Was on a 15 day Island Princess (twin to Coral) cruise in April and became friends with two honeymoon couples. Both had enjoyed cruising before, so they knew what they were getting into – but both also said they had a great time. And if you tell Princess it’s your honeymoon, they’ll take good care of you.

We did that cruise in December, 2004. The price was very right. We were 61 and 60 at the time, and we were far, far from the oldest persons on the ship. We had a wonderful time, but the bars did close before we left the casino at about 1 or so. On the Grand and Golden, we have been dancing in Skywalker's until 3, and the place was packed when we left. But, hey, it's a honeymoon, not an party vacation, right?

Be sure you book the anytime dining. Every night you can have a romantic dinner for two, and, odds are, the waitstaff will really take care of you as newlyweds. If you like the waiters you have, you can reserve their section for every night.

The tours are great. Try to swim with the stingrays in Grand Cayman and with the dolphins in Cozumel, and the tour to the indian village in Panama is fascinating.

Be sure to book the full cruise thermal suite in the spa. You can't beat Princess. Enjoy!

I am with Kat... lots of honeymooners on the TP( 10 day)...and really the only cost difference is air...Tahiti is much more romantic than the canal...but I am bias, I just came back at the beginning of this month, we stayed 3 days post...we celebrated our 22. Congrats and have a great time wherever you go...we did a Carribbean cruise for our honeymoon, really a no brainer......:)

Hi Honeymoon06

Coral and Island are two beautiful ships for their size and capacity. Panama Canal, Costa Rica are wonderful places to visit.

On the Island, by 11 or 12 PM people complainted that there is not too much to do on the ship. You will find on a longer cruise (10+ days), there are more mature people on the ship then the twenty somethings. The twenty somethings sometime might not want to take a longer vacation. Plus a longer cruise costs a little more than 7 days cruise.

You will be happy with Coral Princess. She and Island Princess are our favorite ships :D.

Good Luck with Your Choice.

Happy Cruising

You've made a great choice! I love this ship, and this itinerary. :)

My suggestions:

Pre-arrange a private guide (or shared tour) in Jamaica, so that you can really enjoy this "beautiful destination." Check the ports of call board for Jamaica and you'll run across two or three frequently-recommended guides.

Read "The Path Between The Seas" to enrich your understanding of the history of the Panama Canal construction, and (to a lesser degree), your understanding of the workings of the canal.

Try Bayou Cafe, or at least sit and enjoy the live jazz from the "sidewalk."

Don't book a cabin adjacent to the bump-outs. Go down several cabins so that your forward/aft views are not obstructed by the bump-out cabins.

I would normally recommend a port-side cabin on the western itinerary, with the caveat that whatever side of the ship you choose, you may wish it was the other side when you're in the canal. :) For the rest of this itinerary, unless you want to worship the sun in a particular way at a particular time for a particular part of the trip....you'll want a port side cabin for the western ports.

Even if you have a balcony, move around the ship during the transitting of the locks so that you can't get various points of view. It's okay to go through the forward "Crew Only" doors on (I think?) Baja or Caribe deck during the transit.

Eat pizza and go to tea!

Best wishes....you'll have a wonderful time!

Hi,

My fiance and I are getting married this Saturday, October 1 and are honeymooning aboard the Coral from October 5-15. We are both 23, and like you, prefer beautiful scenery over partying.

I will post a review when I get back, and will be happy to answer any specific questions you may have.

Congratulations on your engagement!

Carla

Congrats to all ! We are eloping the week before our Oct 25 sailing to the Canal. We're 39..what the heck.

Carla,

Are you doing a shore excursion in Limon? We're doing the Costa Rican Favorites, and I would like to meet a relative to join us for the rainforest tram ride. Would be kinda neat since we have seen each other in years. Wanted to confirm the location for him to meet us..

Thanks,

Ted
