Metrorail from MIA to Hampton Inn Brickel?

My sister and I are flying into Miami and are booked into Hampton Inn Brickell. I am looking for anyone's personal experience taking Metrorail from the airport. How long is the walk from the station to the hotel? Is it 'safe' and easy to drag luggage?

We are arriving around noon the day before our cruise.

Thanks for any info.

You do not want to do that. Not a time to count pennies. Take a taxi.

Yes, you have to haul your own luggage.

The last couple of times I've been on the metromover, I have felt very uncomfortable.

Now I've taken the NYC subway by myself at all hours of the night and never felt uncomfortable.

In Miami? They have armed guards at the station and onboard for a reason.

We have only taken the metromover from the hotel to Bayside but the station is less than 5 min from the hotel & I think the Metrorail is the same spot

Did not see any armed guards guess they were off duty

if you SEARCH this topic here you'll find many threads

several Miami natives/residents will recommend AGAINST

(including me)

and several who've done it say GO FOR IT

Google maps can show you the locations of the stations and the hotel

walking in Miami, mid day, pulling bags ...... well, you decide.

Arriving at noon in January is one thing for this scenario .... JULY another

you CAN save $20 or so ..... one cruise ship foo-foo drink.

********

I just dragged two BIG bags 6 blocks from my hotel in Nuremberg to the train station, then another 2 blocks from the Hamburg station to my hotel ...... consider your's a European Quest

*************

I'd take a taxi!

In both of my EU situations I could SEE my destination from my start point having checked everything out via Google Earth!

I will disagree with the majority here. My twenty year old daughter and I took the metro in the early afternoon last December for a New Year's Eve

Cruise, and we never felt unsafe. The walk inside the airport to the metro station was far longer than the walk to the hotel once we exited the metro. We were coming from the a Southwest terminal, so this may vary. There was an extremely helpful employee at the ticket machine who helped us buy our tickets.

The train itself was fairly empty as it was not prime travel time. There was another mother/ daughter combo and a single gentleman. There are plenty of cars, so you could search out one with more people if that would make you more comfortable, or even probably no people, if that's what you want.

The hotel itself was only a block of two from the station. It took us a bit longer to find the hotel, because we unknowingly walked backwards to a staircase that was further from the hotel. If we had walked forward to the other staircase, would have been a much shorter walk. I'm all about saving money whenever I can, and would have absolutely no hesitation doing this again in the future.

I've learned in life that the odds catch up with people.

While not every person will have a problem if they take the metro mover all it takes is one time that something happens to you. I just would not do it with luggage or between those two points.

To me it's like flying the day of a cruise. Some say do it because they have never had a problem. I say you are lucky because the more you fly in the day of the cruise the likely it is you will have a problem and if it happens once that is once too much.

I think taking a taxi is wise and while I applaud people who want to save money and get a good deal in the end safety should take priority over anything else.

Just because you never unsafe, doesn't mean you were safe. You also cannot walk between trains with luggage when it is moving.

It makes me laugh when someone who is not local tries to tell others how safe things are in Miami. Absurd!

Absolutely.
