1st Day at Sea - Blue skies, sexy legs & red lobsters.

I could not believe I had woken up at 6.00am again, now if you knew me I am not a morning person. I hate getting up too early, it is usually 7.30 at home for work. Funny how some people are Morning Birds and others are Night Owls, you must get it from your parents, my Dad loved the early morn and my Mum the nights, she loved to watch movies late at night, so do I. Peter was still fast asleep, so I decided to just sit out on the balcony and listen to the sea. As I opened the curtains I could see the day was going to be great weather wise. As I stepped out onto the balcony that wonderful woosh again of warm air hit me. I looked over the rail and could a few other people doing exactly the same as me, just looking out to sea. I could not quite believe that we were finally on this beautiful ship, the sea was so calm. It was so tranquill just watching the sea splash against the ship and I said a little prayer to Our Lord for giving us this chance to celebrate our 25 years together in such style and luxury. I also said a prayer for our dear parents, they were all gone now and would have loved to hear all about this trip. I had lost my much loved Mother only two years previous, and I still missed her terribly, not to be able to just pick up the phone and tell her everything that was happening. But life goes on as they say and I was so grateful for those few minutes alone to 'talk' to her. I still wear her wedding ring that she wanted me to have and as I touched it I really felt she was with me standing there on that balcony...........she would have loved this cruise.

Peter made an appearance about 6.45am. He came out onto the balcony and asked me how long I had been up, he knows I hate getting up early. We just stood there holding hands, (which I must admit we had not done in a long time.) watching the sea and discussing what we both wanted to do that day. I looked through the Cruise Compass and wanted to watch the 'Mr Sexy Legs Contest' at 1.30pm up at the pool on Deck 11, also the 'Mens Belly Flop Contest at 2.00pm. I suspected these would be a lot of fun. There were a lot of activities going on around the ship all day, there had to be something for everyone. With not having the boys with us we did not have to worry about what they were going to do, which was a nice change. The day

always started at 7.00am with the 'Be Very Afraid' show on your TV, channel 14. This was by Graham Seymour, our very funny Cruise Director, giving you all the 'useless' information (in his words) that you could ever need. It was extremely funny to watch. He would cover all that was going on during the day, much the same as your Compass, but in his own unique style. I will always remember him showing us the 'Drink of the Day', which he did every day, and on this one day, I think it was Monday, he called it 'Fuzzy Navel' and said it tasted off Feet? we just burst out laughing, it was so funny.

As I have said there was just too much to choose from to fill up your day at sea. We had our Cruise Critic 'Meet and Mingle' party to go too at 11.30 in the Cosmopolitan lounge, which is a great lounge on deck 14. It has windows all around and lots of comfortable seats and tables to just sit and relax and watch all that goes on in the pool etc., they have music up there some evenings if you want, a great Jazz evening on I think Thurs or Friday. Lots of sport activities including basketball, volleyball, mini golf, a golf simulator, dodgeball, table tennis and ice skating. (Can you believe it, an ice skating rink on a ship??) and off course the famous Rock Climbing Wall. This was awesome to see. It is on the top deck (15) and is open for hourly sessions. You can sign up for this from 9am. Children are allowed on this, but they have to have an adult with them who has to sign a waiver form. We saw quite a few having a go. There are different levels you can challange yourself too. I did try and persuade Peter to go, but he really does not like heights. Lots of competitions are held during the cruise from Basketball, dodgeball, closest to the pin, trivia quizes to name but a few. We did not do any of these, just wanted to relax, but there was plenty for those who like to use up all their excess energy.

After breakfast, which we had in the Windjammer, again loads of selections, ie cereals, yoghurts, juices, breads and pastries, waffles, pancakes, eggs, bacon, hash browns, etc etc., you could really pig out if you wanted too. We were surprised at the amount of food some people did eat, piles and piles of it on their plates. We like our food but no way could we eat that amount. The Windjammer was usually pretty full of people whenever we went there, which was most days. We wanted to check out the dining room for breakfast, but did not get around to it, always seemed to be in a rush to get somewhere. We walked down to deck 3 to Studio B for the Ice Show tickets which were available to everyone (free) for the show on Monday at 10.30pm and Tuesday at 9pm for Main seating guests and Monday 7.45 and Tuesday 7pm for Second seating. There was only a small queue, so we got our tickets for Monday at 10.30pm. Had a look in the photo gallery which is right next to Studio B. Wanted to check out the photo taken at embarkation. Found it pretty easily and decided to buy it as it was so nice. It cost $19.95 for the 6x8 and we bought the folder with a picture of the NOS on one side and our photo on the other, a nice keepsake. You got a slip which they record every time you buy a photo and when you have bought 4 you get the last one free. There were to be many, many photos to look at during the coming week.

Just before 11.30 we made our way in the elevator to deck 14 and M&M. There were a few people sitting up there having coffee etc and a couple of ladies setting up a table with coffee and cookies for the get together. Waited for some of the others to arrive. Lesley came along not long after us and then everyone seemed to arrive at once. Cindy Dangell the Loyalty Ambassador was hosting the Meet and Mingle. The roll call for this had been started on this site by a young couple Dana & Karen (dernht3) who were on their first cruise after their honeymoon the week before. They were the only ones on there for a little while and then gradually more and more people joined up and registered for the M&M. I joined about 10 weeks before the cruise. It was really nice to chat to people from all over the USA and a few off us from the U.K. Everyone had got more and more excited as the weeks rolled by and suddenly it was here. We met a few of our fellow cruisers and chatted for a while, Cindy then offered everyone coffee and cookies and also gave everyone a small gift off a RCCL wallet with notepad and pen. We were asked to all say our CC Username and talk a little about ourselves. Everyone took a turn until just as Susan was half way through her talk, the captain came on and did his daily Captains' Report. It was hard to talk with him talking in the background, but we managed, I don't think everyone could hear each other though. It seemed to go very quick and Cindy said she had an appointment to go too and apologised for having to leave so soon. Everyone seemed to leave then. Would have been nice to have spoken to everyone, especially as we had all chatted for weeks online. But never mind, it was good to put the faces to the names.

Went off to have lunch in the Windjammer before going up to the pool to watch the contests. There is a great Asian food bar called Jade which is part of the Windjammer. We love this kind of food and would eat there quite a bit lunch time. Some lovely Chinese and Indian food, but did not see any sushi. After lunch we went up to the pool deck and watched the 'Mr sexy legs Contest'. You have to watch this, it was so funny. There were quite a few men who had entered. They had to dance and perform in front of six ladies, who had been picked from the guests sitting around the pool deck. Some only did a little bit, but there were others who had you in stitches laughing. Remember this little man who was from Belgium. He stood with a towel around him, the compare said they hoped he had something on under it. He started dancing and gyrating in front off the ladies to the music, he pulled the towel off and did the splits, it was hilarious. Also a yound lad took part and was a very good dancer. Off course the chap from Belgium won the contest. We only saw a little bit of the Belly Flop contest which was fun. Peter said he wanted to lie out a bit in the sun so we found a sunbed up on the next level. You could always find somewhere to sit even on sea days. Around the pool area was always the most popular and got filled up quickly. Noticed a few towels and gear left on chairs by the famous 'Chair Hoggers' but not too bad. If you did not want to sun bathe there is a lot of activities indoors to take part in, like Complimentary game lessons in the Casino Royale on deck 4, quite a few seminars in the Shipshape Center at the Spa, (I could do with the Anti Aging seminar hehe.)an Art preview for the Art Auction, Ice Skating, Learn to play an instrument, Group cycling (too much like hard work) and off course Bingo. Cards are on sale every day at about 3.30 and the game begins at 4.00 in the Metropolis Theatre on decks 3&4.

Before I go any further I have to mention kids. We really missed our two boys during this cruise, even though they drive us mad some times. There did not seem to be hundreds of kids on this sailing. Looked in Adventure Ocean which is on deck 12. This is for kids 12-17, no adults allowed which I know our two would have loved. There seemed to plenty for kids to do and staff to look after them. A playgroup called Aqua Tots is on deck 12 in Cloud Nine for the under three's. The kids have their own disco party and family shows on sea days. Never saw any been disruptive or running around. I think most families had main seating for dinner as we did not see any kids in our part of the dining room. Our previous vacations have always been Self Catering as I am sure we have all been there, our boys never wanted too sit still for a meal, Luke even now is here there and everywhere if we eat out. Simon always wanted to be off talking to someone or performing for them. He is at college still doing Performing Arts, wants to work in the Theatre. It is a very hard profession to get anywhere in, but he is determined to get there and we always encourage him, you just have too dont't you.

As we sunbathed the pool bar waiters went around all the time asking you if you wanted a drink, not too intrusive though, some could be very amusing to listen too. We got the cocktails mentioned earlier in the Sloozie glasses, which we left behind. :( I had not planed sitting out sunbathing today, but Peter wanted a bit of sun, never seem to get any time at home. I had not put a swim suit on, only a top and shorts so just sat and started to write my journal. We only stayed there for about one and a half hours, it was really hot, I think someone said it was 94 degrees. Decided to go back to our cabin and have a rest before getting ready for dinner. Phoned Sue and Lesley in their cabins (the phones tell you who is calling) and arranged to meet for a drink before dinner in the Schooner Bar. As I went into the bathroom I thought OMG I look very red. Took my top off and saw that the sun had really caught me, I had two big lines and a bib were my top was, and patchy bits on my arms and legs. Why do you never get even colour? Peter was just as bad, red all over with patchy bits. We looked like two red lobsters Lol. I started to panic, it was formal night tonight, the bit I had been really looking forward too, do not get much chance to really dress up. I had spent months looking for a long gown to wear, shops, catalogues, and e-bay. Managed to get a lovely mint green long dress with a matching stole for my shoulders, cream and green high heel shoes and matching bag. Peter decided to wear his navy blue suit I had talked him into buying, only took 25 years, he hates wearing suits. I really wanted him to wear a tux, said he would eventually, but had left it too late to order one. There is a Tuxedo rental stall on the Royal Promenade between 9 and 11am. I was disapointed, should have arranged it beforehand, they have it waiting in your stateroom when you board. Bang went my vision of walking down the promenade with my own 'James Bond'. Oh well!!. Tonight was to be a busy night. Dinner was 6pm and 8.30pm, (you can just eat in the Windjammer if you do not fancy getting dressed up, it is any time from 6.30 to 9pm. Casual ware.) Formal portraits could be done 5pm - 6.15pm in the Centrum decks 3,4 and 5. also 7.30 - 11pm. The Captain's Welcome Aboard Reception was at 7.30 - 8.30 on the Royal Promenade, everyone was welcome. Captain Sullivan was outside the Ixtapa Lounge on deck 5 from 7.30 - 8pm if you wanted to have your photo taken with him. Unfortunately we missed that. He gave his welcome speech at 8.15pm.

We started to get ready quite early as we wanted to meet the girls at 7.45 and attend the Welcome Aboard, and get the photos' done. After showering etc., I thought I would get my hair sorted out. I have shoulder length quite curly dark hair and some weeks before had seen a picture of some starlet in a magazine at an awards show with her hair done in a loose ringlet curly style. It looked really good and me in a moment of madness decided I would try to recreate this style for the formal night. I had bought along the ringlet style curling tongs and heated them up. After washing and drying my hair, I set about curling it. (Not a good idea after all). When I had finished I looked more like my kitchen mop then a starlet LOL. Peter just kept laughing, and I joined in. So back to the drawing board as they say, brushed my hair out and just put it up with a cream silk flower with little feathers in. It did not look too bad. We both got dressed and I thought Peter looked very smart in his suit. But I did not like how I looked in my dress. It had thin speggetti (spl.) straps and looked awful were I burned, big red patches. I got a bit upset and took the dress off, put on my other formal dress which was a red shorter length cocktail dress, but this made me look even more off a lobster. Good job it was not Lobster Night!!. So it was back to the mint green dress, would just have to do. I could keep the stole on to cover up the red bits. I know I should not have worried, but I felt very self consious. Our own fault for sitting out too long in the sun on a formal night. Be warned!!

Walked down to the promanade to get our formal photos' taken. There was quite a queue by now, everyone looked really nice, some spectacular gowns and a few guys in tuxedos'. I was very envious. It is funny how you get a vision in your mind how formal night will be, walking along the promanade with your sweetheart in your lovely gown, but I just wanted to get through it as quickly as possible, I did not feel very lovely. Peter had said I looked beautiful, but am sure he was only being kind. Never mind, there was always the 2nd formal night, would have to make sure I got a more even colour by then. This was to be on Wednesday evening. Met Sue and Lesley after the Welcome Aboard, which was very nice. They looked really good, Sue wore a lovely black dress and shawl and Lesley had this really nice, I think Royal blue two piece jacket and trousers with sparkly bits on, it suited her well. I saw her photo the next day and she looked great. Went our seperate ways to the dining room. They were on our dining floor, not too far away. Lesley had a table off 10 with mostly single people on it. It seemed to be a lively table. Sue was with a family, (a bit strange been on her own) she had tried to get on the same table as Lesley, but it did not happen. But over the week she really got to know the family and spent a lot off time with them. As we went to our table we saw there was another couple there, we were pleased. Ramon came over to greet us and get us seated. We all introduced ourselves and waited for our Italian couple. They never showed. David and Sharon (sorry if I got your names wrong) were from London and we got on very well, had such a laugh. David did not like formal nights and too fancy food, he did laugh when I ordered Escargot. I had never had this before, and wanted to try it. It was very good, the garlic butter was wonderful, just dip your bread in it, delicous. Peter had Rissotto, Salmon and a great dessert, which we can not remember the name off. I had Escargot, a great Strawberry chilled soup, Pasta and Lemon Panna Cotta. Ramon was very attentive and we chatted quite a bit. Loved the way he cleaned off the table with the little utensil, do not know what it is called. After coffee David and Sharon said they were going to their cabin as they were tired. They would be eating at Chops on Monday evening, which was a shame, but would see us on Wednesday. We had planed to eat at Portofinos' on Tuesday eve to celebrate our Anniversary on the 6th. Said our goodbyes and made our way to the Metropole Theatre to watch the evening show. It was called 'Now and Forever'. starring the Royal Caribbean Singers and Dancers. The theatre is over two decks, 3 and 4. Loads of seats, but you need to get there early if you want a front seat. The show started at 10.45pm. It is shown earlier at 9pm. for Main Seating guests. This show was great! the singers and dancers are really talented. It was a tribute to Broadway show with some catchy and memorable songs, we love musicals so really enjoyed this. I just love Abba songs and the Mamma Mia show, they did some of these songs which everyone seemed to enjoy. There were two principal singers, Sharon & Jon and Kevin & Becky. We thought they were all brilliant singers and dancers. Sharon has a really strong voice. We were still finding it hard to stay up late at night, Peter was already starting to nod off as the show finished, I kept nudging him, didn't want him sliding off his seat. hehe.

Decided to go back to our cabin, it had been a wonderful first full day and as we entered the room we saw our first Towel Animal yipeee, I was so pleased. I had not told Peter about this little treat, as I wanted him to be surprised. He certainly was, it was a little dog and we were both amazed at Ashleys' art. I had to take a photo, which I did every night. Peter was to comment all week about the amount of photos' I took and the things I photographed. Got ready for bed and read the Cruise Compass, my nightly ritual. We had to go outside on the balcony one more time, it was still very warm and pitch black. (There is a lamp outside if you need it.) Could see faint lights in the foreground, it must have been another cruise ship or cargo ship. The sound and smell of the sea was wonderful, we could have sat outside all night but bed beckoned. What would tomorrow bring? Labadee, Hispaniola here we come..............Night Night.....;)

next: Golden Sands, Labadozees and Ice Magic.

What a brilliant day, Tessa!

I find sea days boring but your ship seems to be much better organised than the ones I've been on so you don't get the chance to be bored.

Sorry, but I had to laugh a little at your red bits. I'm sure there were loads of others in the same situation as you and were more worried about themselves than noticing what others looked like.

Do you have any pictures to share?

I'd love to see these towel animals too (Men just don't understand these things ;))

Looking forward to the next part.

:D A big thank you to everyone who has taken the time to read my review, I really appreciate it. I am sure as people who have done this know, it takes up a lot of time, going back over all the info, deciding what you are going to put and actually writing it. I am no writer and this is the first time I have ever done anything like this. I just write as I speak and how I remembered things. I used to love reading all the long reviews and got a lot of info from them before our trip.

Ivvshushi & Squeakydust - I would love to post some off the photo's we took, but our digital camera decided it was not going too store the pictures, so had to revert back to the old faithfull Olympus camera. I do not have a scanner so can not get any on here. If I can find someone who has one I will try and post some at a later date. Took photo's of all the towel animals, but did not get one of the mint green dress unfortunately. The formal one was, I am afraid 'not too flattering'.

Look out for the next part, should have it done this afternoon.

Thanks again.

Tessa:)

I am reading your review with such interest. We also had our first ever cruise on NOS in August and also coming from the UK I know exactly the excitement of getting to Miami. We flew BA and stayed at the Intercontinental. My husband couldn't believe the size of the ship when he saw it in the morning. We were so hooked on Royal Caribbean that we had booked our next cruise by Day 3. Next year we are going on the Adventurer from Peurto Rico. We also went to Orlando on our second week. My children said it was the best holiday ever!

Monday - Labadee ,Hispaniola - Golden Beaches,Labadozees & Ice Magic.

:D Woke up a bit later today, (6.10am to be precise!) "when would my body adjust & let me get some sleep" I thought. Lol. I am always like this on long haul vacations, some people never seem to have a problem. Peter is fine, but does tend to fall asleep earlier then normal in the evenings. I had woken up in the middle of the night and had gone out onto the balcony. In the distance I could see a row off lights for quite some way. It looked like land, not sure where is was though. It was so quiet and peaceful out there, just the sound off the sea, and ship sounds, lovely!!

We were due to dock in Labadee at 8.00am. The first tender would leave at 8.30am for the early birds. This is RCCL's private retreat, it is part off the island of Haiti. It was originally discovered by Christopher Columbus in 1492, and it was nearly five centuries later that Royal Caribbean found it and made it into the beautiful place it is today. This part of the island is fenced off from the main isle. The ship has to make anchor just off shore, and passengers are tendered (in small launches) over to the island. It only takes about 10 minutes. There are four main beaches, Hideaway Beach, which is the furthest away from the tender landing, Barefoot Beach, Nellie's Beach (named after they say an Englishwomen who arrived at the time off the buccaneers and set up a trading post and tavern for the visiting ships.) and Columbus Cove Beach, which is were the Arawak Aqua Park is situated. This is a great pleace for kids and adults. There is a giant floating iceberg (the only one you are going to see in the caribbean hehe) water slides, rolling log, water toys and giant floating trampolines What fun!! I think you have to sign up as space is limited to go there, you do this at the explorations desk on deck 5. For the adventurous amongst us you could go Waverunning, we would have loved to do this but are not great swimmers and did not have the nerve to do it. It is a 50 minute ride that takes you zooming along the Labadee coastline, one or two people can go on one at once. You have to be 16 with a valid driving licence to drive one and there is a minimum age limit of 10. We did see quite a few people doing this and were very envious. You could also paddle a Kayak for 1 1/2 hours or go Parasailing up to 400 feet above Labadee, this looked so good as well too do, but the chickens that we are we never did. Like us you could just rent a Floating Beach Mat for $10 for the day, and just relax and float away your time in the clear blue and warm sea. ( I have the price list for all these things if anyone wants to know.)

After Peter had woken up and we had readied ourselves for the day, we went up to the Windjammer for breakfast which opened at 7.00am. If you are up earlier than that you can get a coffee and pastries at the Cafe Promenade on deck 5 which is open 24 hours a day. You are not allowed to take food or drink on shore, so make sure you have a good breakfast before leaving. I noticed a few people having food taken from them at the gangway. Lunch is provided by the ship on shore at 3 locations, Columbus Cove Cafe, Dragon Rock and Cafe Labadee. After breakfast we went back to our cabin and stood on the balcony watching the ship pull into Labadee, this is a really lush and green island with lots of hills. The skies were getting very blue by now and we could tell it was going to be a lovely hot day. The forecast had been partly cloudy and 83 degrees, but it must have been at least 90 during the day. The ship came to a stop just a little way off shore and put down anchor. It was interesting watching the tender boats coming out too the ship to pick up us passengers. People started getting on these as soon as the crew were ready. The tenders go from Deck 1 aft, and leave approximately every 15-20 minutes, you have to use the Aft elevators only to deck 1 to reach the gangway. We decided to walk down the stairs as it was quicker and was our bit off exercise each day. Must admit that Peter is into exercise and runs Marathons, goes to the gym etc., but he was very lazy on this trip. ;) The queue for the tender was quite long by now and we had to wait about 10-15 minutes before we got on. You have to bring your Seapass Boarding Card whenever you enter or leave the ship. There is a security checkpoint at the gangway and you have your bags checked and pass your card through the machine, this shows up your photo which was taken at embarkation. We were glad that security is pretty strict especially these days. It also helps to make sure that everyone is onboard when the ship sails again. Getting on the tender was fine, it had enclosed part below with lines of benches and an open deck part upstairs. Not sure if these are crewed by the NOS's crew or RCCL's own employees from the island, but they were all smartly dressed. Everyone was really pleasant and wished you a good day. We sat in the enclosed bit and soon the tender was full and ready to leave for the beautiful isle of Labadee.

The quick ride over was smooth, which we were glad about. I forgot to mention that we had both been pretty worried about getting seasick on this cruise. Neither off us is very good on boats or ferries and Peter especially tends to get motion sickness on coaches etc., I had chatted about this worry on this site and had been given lots of advice (thank you all who answered) must say that I went a bit overboard (excuse the pun) with the remedies and bought along seasick pills like Dramminine, which we took one every day, ginger candies, even the sick bags from the plane LOL. But we did not need to worry, we had no problems at all during this cruise and only really felt the motion on the last day for a while, but did not feel nausea. Perhaps it is all in your head, I don't know, but it pays to be safe then sorry. As I have said before we were blessed with very calm seas. As we reached the tender landing point you could see the gorgous white sand and clear blue sea, it is a real little paradise. After getting off we all walked down through a covered terrace and got our first feel of Labadee. You can have your photo taken by the 'Welcome to Labadee' sign, which we did. Photo's are taken at every port, and are usually available that same evening to view and buy. It is a shame because we never did find our Labadee photo amongst the hundreds on view. I noticed there were complimentary beach wheelchairs for those people with disabilities available at the tender landing. Thought this was a great idea for those who required them to go on the beaches. As we walked down to Barefoot beach noticed there were restrooms, bar, Nellies Trading post, a place to hire floating mats and lots of beach chairs, (these are free). There is a tram which takes you around the resort, but we never went on this, never noticed it until too late, would have taken it to Dragon's Breath Point which we had seen from the Windjammer coming into port, it looked very nice and quiet. There is a pub, cafe, & floating mat station over there also. For those photographers of us, it would make a great place for views.

Never mind, Barefoot beach was lovely and you can get a great view off the Navigator from here. The ship looked so big and so beautiful sitting out in the sea. An employee asked us if we needed a beach chair, and were would we like to sit. We had decided earlier that as we had burnt the day before, we would sit more under the shade today. He carried two chairs to a nice spot, there were not too many shady bits left by now, obviously a lot of people had the same idea. We tipped him a couple of dollers then settled down to relax and read. You can bring your beach towels from your cabin, but make sure you bring them back or a fee applies. There are also hammocks scattered around if you fancy relaxing in one of these. This would have been fun, but I could just imagine me trying to get in one, I probably would have ended up tangled up in it Lol. Now that would have made a great photo!! ;) Had heard people saying they were going to snorkel in the sea, there is a snorkel shack were you can hire snorkel gear and you are required to wear a snorkel safety vest, which is also for rent. Some people said this was not a great place to snorkel, but as we have never done this I can not comment. That and scuba diving is something I would really love to do, but as I have only just learnt to swim, and am still learning, will have to wait until I have more confidence in the water. I just love the idea of being under the water and see all those beautiful fish and coral. You are so lucky if you can do that. The kids around seemed to be having a great time. Playing in the sand, in the sea, and found out that Adventure Ocean for the 3-17 year old run supervised activities at the kids adventure beach. There is also Beach volley ball and Yoga on the beach (for a $10 fee). The drinks waiters walked around all day serving drinks and cocktails. Again some very amusing guys, we bought a 'Labadozee' which came in a long plastic cup with a lid and straw, printed with Labadee on it. This was a wonderful drink with rum added if you wanted it. The waiters kept asking if you wanted more rum in it. You have to try one of these drinks!!:D

At 1.00pm we decided to go and get some lunch, it is served from 11.30am to 2.00pm. Walked over to Cafe Labadee, (bring sandels or watershoes as the ground can get very hot!) at the edge of the cafe is an area were they have a Folkloric show at 1.30pm. Decided to stay a bit and watch this, what a great show, the music and dancers are very talented. One guy, who we think was their Manager came on last and was fire eating and dancing, this was awesome. After the show wandered over to the cafe and got our lunch. On offer was a buffet style barbacue, hot dogs, burgers, salads, fruit etc., juices, water and cans were available. It was ok, not great, but ok. It filled a gap as they say. A band played music which we enjoyed. After lunch we went for a walk along the beach, it was really nice, just holding hands and taking in the views. We walked back to our chairs, moved them into the sun a bit and sunbathed for a while before having a dip in the sea. I do not like salt water so would not try and swim in the sea. The pools on the ship have salt water in them which again I did not like, so never went in, Peter did though and enjoyed them, especially the solarium pool. I think it stems back to when we were kids and I remember having a tooth out at the dentist when I was about 7 or 8, and my Mum making me gargle with warm salt water, it was disgusting and I never forgot it. I know it sounds a bit silly, but funny the things you never forget.

When we had had enough about 3.00 we decided to go back to the ship. The last tender left at 3.30pm so a lot of people were making their way back to the tender landing. We had a wonderful day on Labadee and would definately recommend if you do the western itinery you go there. It was our favourite place. Oh! nearly forgot, shopping? I have to be honest and admit that I do not enjoy shopping much (WHAT? a woman admitting she does not enjoy shopping, is she mad?) I can hear some people say, hehe but I am ok if I want to get something specific but do not enjoy just browsing. Peter can take it or leave it, so would go if I wanted too. Decided to have a quick look in the flea market just after lunch before we went for a walk. I had read to go to the last hut on the left, this had all the crafts etc., already priced, the other huts you would barter for things and though they probably had a lot more on offer, the vendors were pretty persuasive and wanted a sale. Peter is has been a sales person for most of his working life, so knows what it is like and even though we knew they are only making aliving like everyone else we did not want the hassle of trying to get a bargain. Found some nice items in the hut we went in. There are some fantastic pieces of wood art. Really wanted to get a wonderful globe of the world all carved out in wood, mahogany we were told, but even though it was not too expensive, it was heavy and we were afraid it would be awkward to get back to the U.K. Looking back we feel maybe we should have just bought it and also bought another bag to put it in. There is always after thought isn't there! But did manage to get a couple of trinket boxes and some beads hand made out off seeds. Cash is only accepted and we did not bring a lot with us. Any drinks you buy are charged to your sea pass card only.

The journey back to the ship was sad, it was a shame to leave such a lovely island and could have stayed there longer. At least we had experienced a little bit of paradise. Back in our cabin watched some T.V and read before getting ready for dinner. Tonight was to be Venetian night, it was casual or country attire. Did not notice anyone in country attire though. If you like Country Western, there was a C&W party with music and line dancing 11.15 to 12.30am in the Ixtapa Lounge on deck 5. We stood on our balcony at just after 4.00pm to watch the NOS sail away from Labadee. Everyone was back onboard on time, so no one left behind. Music is always provided up on the pool deck for sail away. We just never seemed to make it up there. Said our goodbyes to wonderful Labadee.............

There was still plenty going on around the ship, bingo, catch a movie in the Screening room on deck 2 foreward, blackjact tournament in the Casino, Core ball pilates in the Shipshape centre (cost $10) Makeover & Abs seminars in the Spa etc., if you want a drink before dinner, all the bars are open with wine and complimentary hors d'oeuvres in Vintages Wine Bar, Cocktail specials in the Schooner bar and live latin music in Boleros'. Wonderful champagne martini's in the Champagne bar. Made our way after getting ready to the dining room for dinner about 8.00pm. Dinner was at 8.30pm, and we wanted to try another portrait photo. We had checked out last nights formal picture earlier and it was not too flattering, which was a shame. It had been taken against a background of the sea and the ship, but Peter had looked like he was asleep and I looked very red and very dumpy looking, with I was sure, three chins Lol. Not sure if it was the way we were standing or just the way the photo came out, we did not buy it. Ramon greeted us as usual with a big smile, we have to say he was fantastic during this week and certainly helped make this cruise a lot off fun. Well looked like we were on our own tonight, no one showed up. Noticed that the table to our right for 8 had only turned up on the first night. So it was pretty quiet around our little bit of the restaurant. The table next to us was quite lively and seemed to having a great time, they were I think Scandanavian and a family together. The other tables around were mostly Americans. The food was very good that night mostly Italian dishes and tasty. Can not remember exactly what we had. I should have asked if I could have a copy of the menus' to take home. Just before dessert Ramon came over and made a candle for us out off one of the napkins. It was very impressive. A few minutes later he came back again with Michael his assistant, the Maitre d' and a gorgeous chocolate cake, Peter had arranged this surprise for our Anniversary, bless him, it was so sweet. The Maitre d' did a little announcement that it was our 25th anniversary, presented the cake and sung a little tune together. She held a napkin over our faces and told everyone we were shy and asked Peter to give me a kiss, as he did she pulled the napkin away and everyone clapped, it was an embarrasing but special moment we will never forget. It would have been nice to have shared it with our table mates, but never mind. After dinner Ramon wished us well and gave us the cake to take back to our cabin, we could have left it for the following evening to share, but as we were going to Portofinos' on Tuesday, we took it back. It was very yummy!

Found another towel animal on our bed, this time a swan. It seemed a great shame to destroy it when Ashley removed it the next day. Not sure if you could keep all the towel animals until the end of the cruise, I should have asked. At 10.15 we went to Studio B to see the Ice dancing show with Maria Karamycheva and an International cast. Doors open 30 minutes before showtime and it gets full very quick, we had to sit at the side, but still had a good view. They do not allow you to take any photo's or video film during the performance, but I saw some people taking pictures. This was one of the best shows we have seen, very good ice dancers, especially the girl who did the hoopler dance with loads of hoops. How so many dancers could do such a show on a pretty small rink,on a ship is unbelievable. The crowd loved them. It was a pity that the 'Tribute to the Temptations' was being held in the theatre at the same time, but we wanted so much to see the Ice show.

Peter was tired so we made our way back to our cabin after the show, it had been another great day and tomorrow would be our 25th Wedding Anniversary, there would be more surprises in store..............

next: Tuesday - Ocho Rios, Jamaica - Waterfalls,Rings & Romance.

Hi Catseyes,

What a great review. Took me back to our RCI cruise. It wasn't on a Voyager class but all the same brought back some great memories of our BTB on Radiance of the Seas. We are booked on Celebrity next to Alaska but would love to try the Voyager class one day.

Can't wait to read some more!

Catseyes,

Thanks for the brilliant review, we're really enjoying it. My husband always teases me about being on this site so much but today he beat me to it and told me he's already read your next installment!

We did this itinerary on Voyager two years ago it's still our favourite ship.

It's great to read a review like this by a fellow English person, I identify with so much.

Looking forward to the next part...

Catseyes, THANKYOU!

Like everyone else here, I am enjoying your review tremendously. Your details bring it all to life. However, A lot of things you mention, also apply to my life, and have really made it very real and very personal. My husband and I sailed on the Legend of the Seas in August, from Southampton,to the Meditterrannean..it was our first cruise. My husband had his 61st birthday (just after our return). He had only ever been to France and never on a ship. Although he was in the navy for 24 years, but in submarines. I come from the Miami area in Florida but have lived in the UK for nearly 25 years..18 in derby..and desperately miss the sea. Your description of arriving in Miami, the warm rush of air, the smell of the sea, and your first view of your ship and how awesome it was..had such special meaning for me. When I got onboard, I uttered the same sorts of prayers as you did. I was eternally grateful and kept saying I thought I'd gone to heaven.. it was just so wonderful to be back on a ship and back at sea. We had been thru many years of terrible things and this cruise really changed our lives. I had cruised before, but in a much lesser standard and in my youth.Travel was always my dream and especially ships. Many an hour I spent watching them at Miami coming and going. I worked my way thru each journey..most with my elderly (though fit) parents. I kept thinking about them, and those trips.,how things had changed in 27 years. I had their photos along with me and my mothers' locket. I wouldn't sleep or even sit down..I was so afraid I would miss something onboard. We had a window in our cabin.. I was glued to it..it would be fantastic to have had a balcony. I always walked the deck last thing at night..dragging my tired husband..taking a final look at the sea and the amazing way the ship looked all in lights.Trying to memorize everything just in case I never returned again. Visiting Rome was a dream..I was 21 the last time I was there....I am now 55. It was like going back in time and being young all over again. so wonderful. Amazing ports.I can't stop talking about it or looking at my photos. We are desperately saving to bring our daughters onboard next August.. for their (twins) 21st birthday present. We kept seeing all the young people onboard enjoying themselves, and felt guilty that our girls weren't along. They are such fantastic kids that work very hard and truly deserve a holiday. We will also celebrate 25 years of marriage during the year and my husband will be 62 a week after the cruise ends. I hope this is just the beginning for you and your family and that you will have MANY WONDERFUL CRUISES!!!! Thank you so much for such a lovely review, and for bringing so much to life. I look forward to the next chapter.. Wishing you all the Best..Carol in derby UK

Carol - Thank you so much for posting your comments, I am really grateful to you and to everyone who has replied. I tried to write the review from a 'Brits' point of view, but also to write it so that our American friends etc., could relate to some of it as well. I wanted it to be an honest, amusing and detailed review as possible and am enjoying writing it tremendously, though it does take up a lot of time.

I am so glad that you could relate to certain points in it and like you I had my Mothers picture and off course her ring with me, I had to feel that she was on this wonderful cruise with us, and always felt she and my Father were looking out for us. I am pleased you had a great first cruise like us and wish you many, many more. It would be great if you can bring your daughters on your next cruise. We hope we can take our two sons for Simons 21st birthday in May 2008,though it does seem a long way off. But we will really try to do this.

I wish you a very happy 25th Anniversary and am sure you will have a fantastic time, life can really distance things between a husband and wife, it is so past paced and too many things happening, this cruise we feel was a god send to us, it definately brought us much closer together and made us remember how things used to be, and really should have remained. I feel that this is the true magic of cruising.

I will try and get the next part done tonight, and again thank you. Take care.

Tessa:)

Tuesday - Ocho Rios,Jamaica - Waterfalls,Rings & Romance.

:D Royal Caribbean's Navigator of the Seas had sailed over night from Labadee to Ocho Rios - Jamaica 300 Nautical miles. She is part of the Voyager family of RCCL's fleet. Very big, very beautiful and we were having a great time sailing on her.

This was the fourth day of our 7 night first ever cruise. We were woken at 7.15am by the phone ringing, it was room service letting us know that our breakfast order was on its way to our cabin. We had decided the night before, that as we had an early start we would order room service. You just fill out the Room Service form in your cabin and leave it outside on your door handle, or just phone the order over. I got out of bed and brushed my hair quickly. Now for any one who has curly hair, you will know what a sight that can be in the morning, it seems to have a life of its own. I remember Simon our eldest boy telling me one morning (not that long ago bless him) that I looked like "The Wicked Witch of the North" charming! I thought Lol. So I 'tamed' it and waited for the room service waiter to arrive. He was right on time at 7.30am. He brought the tray into our cabin and asked where we would like to have our breakfast. I said we would like to eat on the balcony, he set everything out there and I gave him a tip, about $3. Peter got up and came out onto the balcony, the sky was blue again, wonderful!, and pretty warm already. I had asked Peter last night what he wanted for breakfast? he had been half asleep at the time and I do not think he took much notice of me. I had ordered Tea, cereals, milk, pastries and a cheese omlette for me, a mushroom one for Peter. He said he did not fancy the omelette and did not remember asking for it. men eh?? (No offense).:)

Well today, September 6th, was officially our 25th Wedding Anniversary. 25 years ago we had stood in front of God, our family and friends and said "I do". It does not seem that long ago really. We had been very young, I was 19 and Peter was 26. Our parents had been a bit weary of the age difference between us off 7 years, but once they realised we were soul mates they came around to the idea. What does age make anyway, a long as you can communicate with each other about anything, try to have a little bit of give and take, and most of all have fun together, it does not really matter. So here we were! sitting on our balcony, on this beautiful ship having breakfast together, watching the ship make its way into Ocho Rios, you could not ask for any more. We talked about our wedding day, which had been a simple affair, (but still wonderful) we had paid for it ourselves as money had been pretty scarce, even then for our parents. We both come from quite big families. There are some very extravagant weddings these days. There was only one thing I had always regretted, and that was Peter never had a proper wedding ring. We just could not afford two. He had used the signet ring I had given him at our engagement. So I had decided that for our 25th I would surprise him with a 'proper' 18ct gold wedding ring. I had wrapped it in several boxes, so he would not know what it was and gave it to him just after breakfast when we exchanged cards and opened our sons cards. He was so surprised and cried (sorry Peter for telling everyone that) but it was just so special and we both ended up crying. I was so glad that it fitted him, I had just copied the size from his signet ring. Peter gave me a gorgous chain and bracelet he had bought on the ship, he had tried to get me a silver ring, but as my fingers are long and pretty thin, about size 5, he could not get one small enough. I do not wear a lot of jewelry and prefer dainty things, so I think he had, had a hard time finding anything he thought I would like. We have had our ups and down, like everyone else over the years and had tended to take each other for granted, so being here, like this, was just wonderful.

As the ship pulled into Jamaica, we watched the crew tying the ropes etc., and getting things ready again for the passengers to go ashore. Noticed a couple of the ships staff leaving to go into town, but one of the officers shouted at them to go back, no one was allowed ashore yet. We had docked at 9.00am. After about 15 minutes we saw a group of officers come aboard from Ocho Rios. Not long after they went ashore again. No idea if this was normal or not. We got ready for the day, we had booked a trip with Phill Lafayette after reading recommendations on here. We wanted to go to Dunns Falls, Fern Gully and River Tubing. I had e mailed Phill about a month before and booked it, he had told us he would meet us at the pier at 9.30am. We dressed in swimsuits, shorts and the must have (Water Shoes) I had bought a Water Camera and a Waterproof Holder for Peter to put any money, sea pass cards etc., in, it was definately a good buy.

Ocho Rios is on Jamaicas' north coast, and is one of the islands most popular tourist resorts. There are again lush green hills and great beaches. Just south of the town is a lovely spot called Fern Gully, the road follows a dry river bed which was planted with ferns in the late 19th century. There are more than 550 species of fern, and a great place for photo's. I really hoped we would get there to see this.

About 9.30am, Captain Sullivan came on the public address system and told all passengers that unfortunately there was some civil unrest with peaceful protests going on in Jamaica and that a lot of the excursions booked with the ship would have to be cancelled due to some road blocks and they could not guarantee getting through too the sights. We thought "Oh No" we had really been looking forward to this day, especially as it was our special day. The Captain came on again and said that passengers could still go ashore if they wanted too and read out a list of all the excursions that had to be cancelled, this did include Dunns Falls, River Tubing and Horse Riding. We knew that Susan had booked to go Horse Riding, but did not know if she had booked with the ship or privately. We wondered what we should do, go ashore and try and see if Phill was there and wether he would still go ahead with the trip, or stay onboard. As first time cruisers we had no idea how things went in this situation. We decided to go ashore and hope for the best. As we walked towards the terminal we could see a guy standing holding a card with Phills' name on. He told us to stand over under the tree near the entrance, out of the sun, and he would let Phill know we were there. Phill arrived 5 mins. later and said hello, we chatted for a while and he said that the trip could still go ahead, but that he could not promise we would get to Fern Gully or the River Tubing, but would get us to Dunns Falls. We waited for the rest of the group to arrive from the ship and he took us to a nice mini van which had seats covered in plastic and air conditioning. I have to say Phill is a very friendly, charming and amusing guy, he made a great tour guide. He kept apologising for the unrest in his country and told us a lot of the history off Jamaica, the people there are really proud of their island. I had read many posts and reviews about Jamaica and people seemed to have a mixed opinion of it. Some loved it and others hated it. So it was with a little bit of trepidation that we set of on our trip. Phill asked everyone their names and where they were from and then started singing his own tunes, which were very amusing. He kept giving us his own interputation of certain words like Phantastic, etc., all starting in 'P' like his name, very clever. We arrived at Dunns Falls which is one of the wonders of Jamaica. You get to climb 600 feet through water on smooth limestone. You can walk up the side by steps if you do not want to try the falls, there is also a platform for people in wheelchairs to enjoy watching people go up. The sceanery is spectacular with palms and birds everywhere. You can spend time at the beach at the beginning if you want.

We pulled into the car park and Phill told us he would meet us back in the same spot in 1 1/2 hours time, this would allow for everyone to make it up the falls. I thought we will be one of those taking that amount of time, it normally takes about 45 minutes to an hour for those 'Fit' people. I had pulled by back, only by moving awkward in the chair at home a couple of days before we came on vacation and was worried if I would still be able to get up there. I felt ok, so being the stubborn person I am was determined to this, I could not be sure we would ever get this chance again to walk up Dunns River Falls. We paid our money at the kiosk $15 each and made our way to the start for an unforgetable time. As we walked down you could see there were restrooms, changing rooms, a small kiosk selling snacks and drinks and an area with lockers, these are $8 and you get $5 back when you return the key. We were able to leave our bags on the van. Our group of 20 met our guide Joseph and he had fun getting us all to say the Jamaicans favourite words "Yeh Mon - No Problem". At the bottom on the beach (there are a few steps going down) we were told to all get in a line and hold hands. A guy was taking a video of everyone and you could buy a DVD at the end, this cost $40 but if you barter with him you can get it for $25, which we did. It was very good and gave you a film about Jamaica and then the video of your walk up the falls. Our youngest son had a lot of fun later picking us out on it. We made our way up, all helping each other to get up the stones, you get very wet, so recommend you bring a towel and a change of clothes for afterwards. You definately need water shoes as the limestones are quite slippery. This little journey up the falls can be quite strenuous and I would not recommend it to anyone who is pregnant, has back problems says I,or any infants. Though we did see a man carrying a very small child in his arms, how he managed to get up there I will never know. It was a lot of fun, very tiring, especially for us 'oldies' as my eldest calls us, but well worth the effort. We really enjoyed this, Peter had been worried about the height of it, but you really do not notice this as you are too concerned about getting up there. Our guide Joseph was great, took photo's for you with your water camera, especially both of us sitting in the falls. He kept the chat going on all the way up and showed you were to step, be careful and watch were you walk as there are a lot of small dips between the rocks and a few people did not notice them and fell over. Our group slowly! made our way to the top, we had made it. There is a great place just before you reach the top were Joseph got you to sit on the rock and slide down into the water shouting "Yeh Mon - No Problems", It looked so good to do and all the younger people had a go, but we declined (do not like going under water) what cowards ah!! Spent a bit of time getting our breath back and clearing our water shoes from little stones. I was really glad I had, had a strong man on each arm to get me up the falls, I would not have managed without them,so many thanks to my darling hubby and the mystery man who pulled me up. We gave Joseph a tip of $10 and started our walk back to the entrance. Got changed and bought the DVD from the guy who took the video. Stopped for a drink and saw that it was nearly time to meet Phill again. I had read advice on this site from a lot of people that you should try and avoid the straw market at the top which is on your left as you leave, apparently it has very persuasive and aggressive vendors. We honestly felt a bit guilty not going in the market, it looked full of some nice pieces of art, but as I have said before we did not want to have to be pressurised into buying things. We just walked to the left past a security guard who did try to get us to go to the right, but he did not stop us leaving.

Phill was waiting in his van for us all, we got back in and he said he would take us for a ride around to show us a little bit of his island, he is very proud of Jamaica and is a great embassador. We were only able to see a bit, local schools, houses and some lovely plants, which he would stop by and explain their names and origin. A lot of road had roadblocks, but the men there seemed to respect Phill and did not cause any trouble. He took us all to a restaurant after our tour around and we had jerk chicken and fries, this was great, very tasty. It seemed a very busy place. Afraid I can not remember the name of it. Four of the people in our group had already visited Dunns Falls and Phill had taken them to a shopping mall while the rest of us had gone to Dunns Falls, we picked them up and he explained that we would not be able to get to do the river tubing, he kept apologising for the trip not being what we had planed, but we were all grateful for what we had done. It would have been such a pity to not go to Dunns Falls. We were happy! He took us to Island Village shopping centre which is right next to the cruise pier. This is were Margaritaville beach is and there is a nominal fee for using this beach. There are also lots of shops at the Taj Mahal centre in the main town. We decided to just go back to the ship as my back had started to hurst again, all that excercise I suppose. The currency in Jamaica is the Jamaican dollar, but the US dollar, credit cards and travellers cheques are all excepted in the shops. Jamaica is one hour behind ship time, but they advise you to stay on ships time. The NOS was due to leave at 5.00pm for Grand Cayman. Some of the group went shopping and the rest of us were taken back to the pier. We all paid Phill who wanted to reduce the price by $5 each because of the things we could not do, but we paid him in full, it was well worth it and he was a brilliant guide, such fun, we highly recommend him.

Got back onboard about 3.00pm. I wanted to see one of my favourite films 'The Phantom of the Opera' being shown at 4.00pm in the Screening Room, so we headed up to our cabin, showered, changed, grabbed a coffee and cookies and went to see it. We had seen the stage show in London years before when Michael Crawford was in it (he was brilliant) and had all ready seen the film, but I love the music and Peter said he did not mind. The room is on deck 2 foreward. Not huge but adequate, with nice seats. We settled down to enjoy. There were only a few other people in there, but others came just before and during the film. There was a funny moment just after it started, an elderly lady had sat down in the row two up from us, and a little while later another elderly couple came in and as the lady of the two sat down one seat in from the aisle, this other lady jumped up and sat down next to her and preceded to chat away, the other ladies husband was still standing in the aisle waiting to sit down. It was a few minutes before the first lady realised that she had taken the husbands seat and got up again. It did make us chuckle. The film was great and after we went back to the cabin to get ready for dinner at 8.00pm in Portofinos' speciality restaurant, this was to be our anniversary treat. Not long after we arrived back, there was a knock at the door. I opened it and a guy with a beautiful bouquet of roses was standing there. Peter had arranged for these to be delivered after the film. They smelt wonderful and was another very romantic gesture. This was turning out to be a great day, could it possibly get any better.?

We had missed the sail away at 5.00pm, but did feel the ship moving a bit and I suppose the gangway being lifted while in the Screening Room. Never heard any announcements, so assumed no one was left at the pier. The crew do advise you to be back at the pier at least 30 mins. before the ship sails. Would'nt it be awful to be left behind. Dinner in the dining room was Caribbean Night, casual or caribbean wear. Again you could have your photo taken at the Centrum and noticed a casual photo shoot next to the Photo Gallery, these were taken against a white background and people were lying or sitting down on the floor, very natural poses and these seemed to come out very well. A lot of people had these done. There was a caribbean street fair on the Promanade 7.30 - 8.45pm with some nice souveneirs. We got the boys some presents and post cards. We had decided a couple of years ago not to buy post cards again because they always arrived home 3 days after we did. But they are nice to keep. (I did cheat a bit and send a couple home, these arrived before us thankfully,) but don't tell Peter.;)

Dinner at Portofinos' was out of this world. We were greeted by the Maitre d' and shown to our table for two beside the window. Our waiter Bernard from Belgium and his assistant from Poland introduced themselves and asked us if we would like some breads and mineral water. You had a choice of two waters and a basket of these lovely Italian breads, with a little tray of dips and a saucer of olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Just these on their own were great, I love bread. Bernard brought the menus and gave us suggestions and explained everything on there, also asked if we wanted wine. We are not big wine drinkers and had not bothered at dinner beforehand, but decided to have a bottle tonight. (If you bring your own wine to the dining room, you have a $12 corkage fee for each bottle.) Bernard suggested a nice white wine and if we did not finish it we would be able to have the remainder tomorrow in the dining room. We had Sliced Tenderloin Beef and Shrimp Rissotto, Pappardell Pasta, Fillet of Atlantic Halibut, Sauteed Tiger Shrimp and Tiramasu for dessert which was just soooo gooood. I have never seen this dessert served the way it was, in a chocolate basket and the tiramasu served seperately in a little glass. Coffee and chocolate covered strawberries were last. A truly great meal!. The staff were very attentive and could not do enough for you. We were very impressed and gave Bernard a generous tip.

After dinner we felt so stuffed, we had to open our trousers, thank god for zips is all I can say!! Lol. We usually went back to our cabin after dinner to change. Peter feels better being more casual if we go back to a show. It was the 'Love and Marriage' show and I really wanted to see this. After changing Peter said he did not feel like seeing the show, so he said for me to go. I met Sue in the Promanade on the way there and we went together. She did get to go horseback riding and had a great time. The show was very funny. Graham Seymour the Cruise Director was the host and asked for three couples to come up on stage. They would sit in chairs with their backs to one another and answer questions. A newly married couple of one week on their honeymoon went up, and Graham asked for anyone who was married a long time to go up, a couple who had been married 52 years went up, and he then asked for anyone who has been married 26 years or the closest too to go up. It was a pity Peter had not come down because I would have loved to go up, it would have been such a laugh, but never mind. Graham was brilliant and so funny with the couples. Needless to say the couple married for 52 years won. They received a hamper filled with all the goodies given away over the week in different quizzes etc., and a bottle of champagne. If you did not make any of these shows, you could always catch it on the TV the next day in your cabin. Peter watched it, and had a good laugh.

After the show Sue said she was going to the 'Dancing Under the Stars' on deck 11 Poolside. The Showband Jamm, Inc was playing and you dance from 11.30 til 1.00, swim or go in the hot tubs. Would have liked that, but would not go without Peter. Said night night to Sue and went back to the cabin. Earlier Ashley had left another towel animal, this one a Stingray, Wonderful, my favourite. I had told Peter all about the show, and soon it was time for bed, after all, this was our 'Second Honeymoon';)

This had been a wonderful, romantic and exhausting day, but we had enjoyed every single bit of it. Tomorrow would be Grand Cayman and more adventures......................yeh Mon!

next: Wednesday - Grand Cayman - Stingrays, Comedy & Gala Buffets.

:) Thank you for sharing your cruise experiences. Reading this review and journal brings back memories of our first cruise aboard the Mariner, little memories that we thought we'd forgotten! PLUS, I've always wanted to journal our travel experiences and you've inspired me to be more faithful to this, especially with our Rhapsody cruise a few weeks away! Debbie
