Not impressed with Conquest

To others that have parked in Ft. Lauderdale; any comments about the port terminals and parking?

Not terminal parking, but I highly recommend ParknGo just west of the port area. Reserving online I paid about $78 for an 8-day cruise. The driver hefted our luggage (insisted on it) and we walked about 15 feet from our car to their shuttle, which is roomy and only seats 9-10 people, as opposed to being stuffed in. After we buckled in, he didn't wait for other passengers. We zipped right out to the cruise terminal. On the return we had to wait about 5 minutes for a ParknGo shuttle to pull up. He dropped us off right beside our car, and even loaded up our luggage for us.

I have been on 11 Carnival cruises and for some reason my two on the Conquest were Eh....I can't put my finger on it, they both just felt off compared to my other cruises. Some love it though, so who knows :)

Same here, pretty much, although I did enjoy the cruise (never been on a "bad" one).

I'll post a short review in my cruise's Roll Call (soon) and then edit a link to that into this post.

For the recent cruisers, did you miss the sail away because of the muster drill? Our July cruise we were in muster until we reached the ocean.

We had some of the Same complaints about the rest of the ship as many others, poor a/c which finally did get fixed, water flowing out of floor drains in bathroom. Steward was lazy and refused to do certain things we have never had a problem with before. He actually told us to empty mini fridge of alcohol in our kids room because he didn't have time, left door open after cleaning one day (nothing missing) told me to call guest services about bathroom problem because it wasn't his job. I removed his tips for his lack of service.

Terrible that you had such lousy steward service. I would have reported him to guest services at the 1st sign of trouble and let them handle the issue.

I am curious how you removed his tips though.

We sailed on the Conquest twice this year both 8 day cruises and both in balcony room 7430 on the port side. This was a great side to be on for the ports we visited.

Our first cruise was in March and went to Dominican Republic, Aruba, Curaçao and Grand Turk. I always carry a room thermometer and most or the time it was around 72 degrees...a little cooler at night. We had Matt as CD and he was very good. I. Had my twin boys age 12 at the time and we had no complaints. I agree with an earlier post about the Sr. Waiter not being very good. We have always had late dining and only complaint was we were at a table for 8 and only 3 others were there most nights. Service was good and no complaints about the temperature.

Our second cruise was booked last minute because of the prices and lucked out getting the same room. Loved the location - 7430 is the last balcony on the port side and very quite. This cruise was during 4th of July and went to St. Kitts, St. Maartens, Grand Turk and San Juan. Our room stewards were great both cruises and always spoke to us when we saw them. Jace was our CD this cruise and we really enjoyed him. One thing my kids and I made a point to do was go to as many shows and activities as possible and we had an awesome time. I got called up on the Welcome aboard show, made a fool of myself, but the kids loved it. The next night the comedian got me back up on stage and again made a fool of myself but we had a great time. We even attended the. Or I got shows most days and enjoyed that as well.

I did carry a small fan because I knew being summer temperatures might be an issue. During the day our room was about 75 degrees but most nights cooled off to 72. The service overall was very good. One lido waiter remembered me from the last cruise as he had twins as well. I could tell how much he missed his family as we had many conversations about our twins. He was awesome! This was probably one of the best cruises we had - it helped that I won big on the first night in the casino - the only cruise I ever won money.

Embarkation - we had FTTF and was a very smooth process but I could tell it seemed a bit chaotic.

The ship does show its age but for the price both cruises were great. Would not hesitate to sail her again.

We sailed on the Conquest in May this year and had a great cruise. The Conquest was chosen because of the 8 day itinerary...LaRomana, Grand Turk, Curacao and Aruba. Curacao is now my favorite port, loved it.

Our journey started with a very fast check-in, 15 minutes from the time we walked into the terminal to boarding, we were in constant motion from the minute we entered the building and having our first drink of the day in record time. We have had different experiences boarding on every cruise we have taken, some very fast and some very slow. I'm on vacation, relaxing and enjoying every minute away from work so whatever it is, it is.

We were in a 6K stateroom on Lido (which was AWESOME) and it was very cold in the room...I would sit near the picture windows during the day when the sun was shining in and it was still very comfortable.

Our Room Steward did a good job but I'm not someone who cares if he/she ever talks to me. Just work like a Ninja, do your job and I'll be happy. Our wait staff at assigned dining were o.k. but not the best we have had. The head waiter seemed to be training an assistant and it wasn't going very well. We always found something on the menu we liked and I oftentimes ate two appetizers, a baked potato and a salad and would skip the entrée. If there are no good dessert choices, there is always ice cream, sherbet or the children's banana split which is just the perfect size.

The buffet food is hit or miss, if I stick with some basics, I'm good. I love the Deli and must have had a dozen freshly sliced turkey sandwiches on a country roll and walked over to Guy's burgers and added a heaping portion of bacon. Out of the carved meats on the buffet, my favorite is the country baked ham. The casseroles all seem to taste the same and I avoid them. Their rolls and bread are always good, there is always fresh salad and fruit. Everyone's tastes differ but there is always something I can mix or match on the buffet. Speaking of Guy Fieri's burgers, I'm not a big fan and this would be the last thing on the ship that I would eat. My grandson loves them and ate one every day...he also loved the burritos from Blue Iguana. He also set a new personal record on this cruise for most soft serve ice cream cones eaten on a cruise ship. He is looking forward to breaking his record when we cruise again on the Conquest next April.

We watched movies two nights on the Lido deck which was amazing (my grandson happily chomping on a Guy's burger and washing it down with three ice cream cones). I washed my popcorn down with some Thirsty Frog Red beer, yum.

The Conquest may need some TLC but I was having too much fun to notice. The ship can't be compared to the Breeze, it was a totally different cruise experience on each ship. The Breeze had more activities on the open decks and we enjoyed all of them but there were lines everywhere we went, trivia was always packed with no seating available, the casino seemed small compared to conquest class ships (maybe it was just me?). The food at the buffet and main dining room was no better or worse than we have had on other ships. The Breeze's décor is what makes it pop, it's light, bright and beautiful. One venue I enjoyed on the Breeze that isn't on the Conquest was the Red Frog Pub. But, we found the service overall to be much better on the Conquest. The staff on the Breeze seemed to be overwhelmed.

We had a great cruise on the Conquest and as mentioned above, we have booked the same ship, same itinerary for April 2016. We loved Curacao and Aruba, had a great time at both ports. You'll recognize me, I'll be the woman on deck with a big smile on her face, drink in hand, feeling the warm sun and cool breeze wash over me. Life is racing by, relax, enjoy every day, they are all precious to me.

This is going to sound like an odd question, but we are booked on the Conquest in January and I am in a wheelchair. I have heard different things about getting onto the ship at the terminal.

My question is how steep were the ramps getting onto the ship? I have a motorized wheelchair that doesn't do real steep inclines very well.

I remember people complaining about the steepness of the ramp when I was doing research for our last cruise. I don't remember it being any steeper than any other previous cruises. Maybe someone that has used a motorized wheelchair can comment here and help you with a better answer

We did the same itinerary on the Conquest and felt the same as you. I believe this itinerary is one of the best in the Caribbean. When you are having so much fun it's hard to complain about some of those small issues

We were just on the Conquest (8-23-15) and had a wonderful cruise with no AC problems on Upper Deck (deck2). We were treated terrifically and are going back on her in Jan.23,2016. John & Priscilla :) :)

Glad to hear deck 2 was comfortable. I will be on Conquest Deck 2 this weekend.

Went on Conquest 9/26 - 10/4 on the Eastern route. We were on deck 2, port side aft. The room was comfortable, cool enough and well taken care of.

The food was good to very good, both on Lido and in the MDR (where we had anytime dining). You can always find something to eat, even if your first choice isn't very good- choose something else and just try again.

Absolutely loved the Big Screen / Dive In movies at night. Popcorn, ice cream, and husband by my side - lovely breeze and the sound of the wake....what more could you want!?

Didn't actually make it to any evening entertainment, except casino, Alchemy Bar, and movies - but it was just right for us.

I found the ship overall to be wonderful - no better or worse than any of the other Carnival ships I've sailed. It was comfortable, clean, lots to eat and lots to do. Lovely sunshine, fresh air, pampering and rest.

And the price was very good. All in all, I highly recommend the Conquest and wouldn't think twice about sailing her again....and again...and again!
