Baseball fan Posted September 28, 2015 #1 Share Posted September 28, 2015 Hi, I will be in London for 4 days before boarding a cruise. I will have an unlocked mobile phone from the U.S. I was researching different SIM cards to purchase. Does anyone have experience (good or bad) with Giffgaff? It appears they use the same service as O2. Thanks Dena
orchestrapal Posted September 28, 2015 #2 Share Posted September 28, 2015 (edited) Google it and you will see the reviews. "Awful and to be avoided." In London now and from what we have been told O2 And Vodafone seem to be the best. Edited September 28, 2015 by orchestrapal
Mim Lloyd Posted September 29, 2015 #3 Share Posted September 29, 2015 I'm on GiffGaff and it's brilliant, no issues whatsoever. As it piggy backs on the O2 network it works just like an O2 SIM.

Hoping to hear from others who have used that service.
Omega1 Posted October 12, 2015 #5 Share Posted October 12, 2015 My brother uses GiffGaff and sings their praises - simple with good network connection.
Rare insidecabin Posted October 12, 2015 #6 Share Posted October 12, 2015 UK based : we use "3" PAYG on the 123 tariff, handy for the UK and quite a lot of europe and the US. Might need to be active for a while before you can get the cheap roaming. but will be fine for the UK. http://www.three.co.uk/Store/SIM/Pay_As_You_Go http://www.three.co.uk/Discover/Phones/Feel_At_Home?intid=3main_brand_PAYG_plans_FAH_P3
insanemagnet Posted October 13, 2015 #7 Share Posted October 13, 2015 With 3 on PAYG, if you want to benefit from the cheap roaming, you must buy a bundle, then the elements within the bundle are "like at home".
Rare insidecabin Posted October 14, 2015 #8 Share Posted October 14, 2015 When you top up that gives 150MB that works on feel at home enough for light data use. So you don't have to buy a bundle if that's all you need.
Baseball fan Posted October 16, 2015 Author #9 Share Posted October 16, 2015 Thank you for the info on 3. That might work the best as they have an inexpensive bundle. I will check it out when I get to London.
