jimphil Posted October 5, 2015 #1 Share Posted October 5, 2015 Hi, if we take the vaperetto (route1) from p. Rome does it do a round trip and return to p. Rome? Also how long does this usually take and what ticket price? Thanks.
agabbymama Posted October 5, 2015 #2 Share Posted October 5, 2015 (edited) I'm not sure you can stay on for the whole round trip. This website shows the time table, but it's small print. http://www.actv.it/pdf/navigazione/linea1.pdf I think each one way is about an hour, so round trip would be about 2 hours, but you would definitely see most of Venice from the water. If you buy the 2, 3, 7 day pass, you definitely can stay on for the whole trip. Hopefully someone else familiar with one-way fares can add more info for you. Have a great trip! helpthejuggler Posted October 5, 2015 #3 Share Posted October 5, 2015 It isn't a circular trip, but a line that runs in 2 directions, and very frequently - approx every 10 minutes through the main hours of the day. A single ticket covers 75 minutes of travel from validation. You must swipe the ticket before you board to start the clock. Your ability to do a return depends on how far you intend to travel. To Lido is almost 1hr, so you would need 2 tickets. You can travel on line 1 then turn around allowing the waiting time just less than half your time is used. This will take you most of the way to San Marco (around 40 mins each way). A full day ticket is 20euro. A single 75min is 7.5euro. There are many lines and you can reach Murano & Burano for a longer ride. We have always bought 24/48/72hr tickets as the cost and freedom it gives us is great value. Rare Clay Clayton Posted October 6, 2015 #4 Share Posted October 6, 2015 Hmm, I could've sworn we took the #1 and it was a circular trip and didn't go all the way to Lido...anyway, check on Rick Steves website and download his app for which ever route isn't the express. He does a relatively good job of commentary as you ride around. We were lucky enough to grab seats in front of the pilot and it was a great hour or two. Rare Hlitner Posted October 7, 2015 #5 Share Posted October 7, 2015 The #1 and #2 circle Venice in both directions and you can stay aboard for complete circles. Nobody will kick you off those boats unless they are taking it out of service. Hank
kuldalai Posted October 7, 2015 #6 Share Posted October 7, 2015 Tip Down the Grand Canal . Expresso - stops all landings and takes around an hour, Diretto - Limited stops and takes 40 minutes . Runs both ways between Piazzale de Roma and San Marco.
