We will be staying at the Hyatt Place and will definitely check out Duffy's when we arrive in mid November.

I have read good things about Gilbert's 17th Street Grill as well. May have to do my own hamburger comparison between the two spots.

Yes, there is a totally new menu. The main feature is fish/seafood. The food is pricey (very expensive for Fort Lauderdale) but they do know how to cook fish well. The bimini bread is still the best!

If you are interested in a really casual restaurant, just a few doors from the Publix beside your hotel is a little hole in the wall Italian restaurant - Giulianos. This place is not fancy and does a very brisk take out Pizza and Italian food business. There are about 8 tables inside and I eat there every time I go to Fort Lauderdale and the food is great - love their garlic rolls and their soups and everything else I have tried is excellent. Sounds like you have made a decision but in case it doesn't work out then you have another choice.

 

I'll be eating dinner here Nov 5 and 6.....

Not sure about reservations but I would try Duffy's (sports bar), Southport Raw Bar or Kelly's Landing (seafood).

 

I second Duffy's, very reasonable and good food

Green Bar & Kitchen (organic, gluten-free, healthy) is just on the north side of 17th Street, about a block west of Embassy Suites. I ate there last night - had the amazing avocado toast and the GBK Burger. Some nights they have open mic night, featuring local singers and musicians.

 

I also really like Market 17, just east of Embassy Suites. Check out their Dining in the Dark experience! You need a reservation - it's fabulous!
